Sensible to remap at this mileage?

Hi All - just joined the fold with a 2008MY TDV8 Vogue SE. I've only had the car a few weeks but very pleased - previously had an RR Sport TDV8 (good engine / handling but quite small when our second wee one came along) and then a Discovery TDV6 (very spacious but engine felt like it was always making a big effort). I live in Switzerland and am interested in getting my car remapped. Given where I live, I'm thinking of getting the Superchips Bluefin sent to me out here. I have a concern that my car may not be robust enough for the remap though as it's done 115,000 KMs (70 odd thousand miles)? The car has a full LR service history and was checked by LR and I have a 12 month warranty - am I right to be concerned or should I just do it? Thank you for your opinions / experience.

Cheers

Hi welcome to the forum Thumbs Up
The milage is ok to have remapped the best thing about the bluefin is,before you car goes to back to Landrover you can swap the remap back to standard, then when you collect it swap it back Rolling Eyes
plus with the remap you should get smother ride plus better fuel economy.
thanks

I've not tried Bluefin but have bot a BAS box which also allows the map to be taken off & the original restored. Pete ' BAS can also tewak the map for you and send you a new one by email Very Happy

If you have any doubts about the mileage etc. then give Pete a call - he also does a forum discount so should be cheaper than what is quoted on his website

Thank you for the welcome and the info!

Landyash / Alistair - were the installations straightforward and has your overall experience been worthwhile? Have you seen any economy gains in normal use?

Scarey - what sort of remap did you have that resulted in no difference at all!?

Cheers

Very easy - basically plug the bo into your car - full instrutions provided - download the existing map - take the box inside & connect to PC using USB cable provided & email the map to Pete telling him how you drive & what you want

Pete seems to work 24/7 & mails it back in minutes in most cases. Then take the box back out to the car & upload the new map.

It keeps the original on the box so you can swap between standard & modified as often as you want.

If you want any tweaks Pete will do those by email and you upload again.

I looked at the BAS website and it says that the download unit is also a fault code reader / clearer. Please excuse my ignorance but what would this be used for? Also, do all of these remaps only affect the normal drive mode of the terrain response system or does it also alter the others like sand mode etc. ?

Cheers

I've never tried using it as a fault reader - not sure on other modes - I don't think the mode affects engien management but could be wrong - try emailing Pete @ BAS - he's usually very responsive & knowledgable
