which cone filter for a 2010 conversion?

Hi guys,

I'm going to be shortly doing a 2010 conversion on my 2004 V8 FF, i've been collecting all the required parts for a couple of months and slowly but surely i'm almost there! Just about the last thing that i need is the aftermarket cone filter to replace the standard air filter box. Does anyone know the best one to use for the job, price isnt an issue however i don't want anything to sound over the top and boy racer like. I've heard that a k&n one maybe suitable? Does anyone have an exact part number or a link to where i can purchase one. I've looked around but all that i seem to be able to find is for the early Classics and P38 models, nothing for the L322.

Many thanks in advance!
Dan

Why don't you put a K&N filter in the standard housing ?? First of all you have a much larger surface area and the air going in is much more laminar which aids the amount going in. The more turbulent the flow is (and cone filters do that) the less air you get in.

I got this tip from a guy that used to tune Porsches for racing and their cars used to outperform the factory Porches (they did a lot more on the engines). They used the original filter housing with a very low resistance filter (K&N type) as it turned out to give the best performance due to the laminar air going in.

I then changed it on my bike (GS 1000) and it did bring back the power to the whole rev range and was much nicer and smoother to ride (also faster Smile). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I would suggest the reason would be that following the conversion the standard airbox does not fit, hence the cone version Thumbs Up

Later headlamps are much deeper and sit where the original airbox is situated on a normally aspirated V8 hence the need for a cone filter...
