Rear pad wear sensor didn't work

Having to get rear discs and pads replaced at 32000 miles today.
One rear wheel was screeching and I thought it might be an electronic park brake failure as a HDC and park brake fault appeared briefly. However, the AA told me the rear pads were worn down to the metal and sometimes the brake wear sensor doesn't come on unless both wear evenly!
However, main dealer says the discs should be covered by warranty and I will just have to pay for new pads.

My loan car is a Kia Sorento and it's a good reminder why you pay more to drive a Range Rover. It might have a 7 year warranty but I don't want it any more after 7 hours! Big Cry Sad Big Cry Don't mistake my snoring for a lack of interest?

There is only a sensor on 1 pad on 1 side, so out of the 8 pads on the car you only have 2 sensors (make sense)

If there was a massive difference 20% warn one side and 80% the other then they are out of balance. Still pads are cheap, just sling a new set in, £20-£50 depending if you go pattern or genuine. Unless the discs are completely fooked leave them till next time....

Thanks Dan
I had better do a visual check of the Brembos at the front too!
It's been a reminder that you can easily fall into the trap of believing the car will always tell you when it wants some TLC and new shoes. Don't mistake my snoring for a lack of interest?

I had this and couldn't believe that such an expensive car had only 2 sensors ( I'd never had 'metal on metal' until this car ) . I needed new discs (as rear nearside was so heavily scored and skimming them was pointless as new ones not over -expensive) just due to the lack of a few more sensors. It went from a few squeals , I checked the discs and saw nothing, to a week later when I suddenly got a loud squeal again and found the nearside rear pads were totally shot. LR wouldn't pay for the discs on my car , they basically weren't interested (this is LR by the way, not the dealer who also spoke to them). Steve

There's a sticky under the 'technical' section covering prices of brake parts etc if you want an idea of cost...
