Ventilation fan

First post here chaps! (Well second - 1st was to say hello!)

Thumbs Up

I have asked this on the Rangerover.net forum but no joy so worth a punt here.

I have the 03 Vogue with the 3.0 BMW unit.

The car has a fan which kicks in as soon as the doors are unlocked. It also runs until the BCM shuts down everything after 16 mins of inactivity.

The fan is I think behind the battery and the transferbox ECU and sounds as though it exits through the left hand (from the driver seat) air vents / shark fins.

My fan is dying! cutting in and out. Visited the dealers today and they assured me it was simply for ventilation. Not sure if it is a fan or relay on the blink.

Fact is I'd like to either sort it or disconnect it. I don't like stuff frazzling on my car.. especially if I'm 10 - 15 minutes away.

I can't find any reference as to how I should get to the fan. It could be accessed by removing the battery and transferbox ECU.. then again may be under the dashboard and just exiting in the area of the battery.

I've trawled RAVE and the workshop manuals but I must be missing something! - i.e. - a clue!

Can anyone help guys!

If you are referring to the ECU fan it's at the bottom of the big box in the right side of the engine bay (you need a T30 bit). You shouldn't remove it, just spray some lube on the bearings if the noise annoys you.

No its not the ECU fan. I've had the lid off the box and that wasn't kicked in at all. I noted a sensor at the top of the box which I assume only kicks the fan in when it gets hot in there?

The ECU fan vents to the cabin if my reading is correct.

The fan with issues is the cabin ventilation fan which vents to the left hand shark fin vent, though how to get to the fan is the question. I don't fancy disturbing the Wipers ECU, Transmission ECU and Battery only to find its under the dash. All the noises suggest it will be behind them but again like the Ebox ECU fan that could be very misleading.

Cheers
