I "think" it's refered to as the LCM 3 or III same as goes in the E38, E39, E52 & E53?

UPDATE:

I've just bought an LCM III from an E39 for £40.00 off of eBay. Now all I need is the light sensor in theory...

I'll be Censored if it doesnt work for £100 worth of parts!

I didnt think it needed to have auto lights printed on it? If so I've bought the wrong one!

I thought basically Auto Lights was only compatible with LCMIII or above.

OK, got round to doing the retro auto lights on my car and can say they work few little probs will tell you at the end., firstly you will need the main light switch with the auto light setting on it, this is quite easy to replace but be careful pushing it out they are quite fragile at the back as i found out. then you will need to change your light sensor to a 2005 on, this will have the light sensor in it YDB500320 and is a straight swap. finally you will need the LCM this needs to be a mk IV unit i used a BMW X5 unit 61.35-6 935 462 .lear.
this unit is quite easy to change, its in the drivers foot well,i found it easier to remove the bonnet pull to give me a bit more room.
put it all back to gather and away it went, put it to auto and covered the sensor and bingo it came on,uncovered it and it went off.
i was talking to Dan with this upgrade and we wasn't sure if the lcm would have to be reprogrammed to the car, this is not the case but as i said there is a few probs.
when i start the car i get some warnings come up,
check brake lights.
check rear fog lights
check reversing lights
tyre monitoring inactive, i haven't even got tyre monitoring on my car so that must of been a feature from the X5
all of the lights work apart from my rear fogs, they have stopped working, now this could be a fault with the lcm as it was second hand or may be i will need it reprogrammed to stop the warnings

Excellent News!

The reason you're getting warnings for the lights are:
Brake lights are LED where as not on X5
Fogs aren't monitored on RR
Reversing/Back up lights aren't monitored on RR

So they just need disabling? Navcoder can sort this.

Not sure on the TPMS though, I'll look to see if this can be turned off via Navcoder, I presume it's complaining that the TPMS ECU is missing.

hi dan,
it just comes up tyre monorting inactive..
so if the lcm was from a range rover these warnings would not come up..
now you say they need to be disabled in navcode,is this at the dealship end with there equipment..

Navcoder is a bit of software you can use yourself, but you need an iBus Interface. I've actually lent mine out, but when I get it back (after easter if you can wait that long?) I'll post up to you if you like? The USB interface is around £40 I think.

I just re-read your post, I missed the bit where yiou said your rear fogs are not working, I thought it was just the bulb warning, so the ibus interface may not help you with that, it will certainly turn off the bulb warnings though.

That looks as if it will do the same thing as my usb thing. It's what I used to fix my nav after the dodgey update disc.

If it helps, I have noticed that my fogs do not work on my 2006 unless I have the switch to the headlight position. If in auto light mode, they don't seem to work. Java with Ivory 2006 4.2 Supercharged. 23.5k miles - NOW SOLD!
