Range Rover Fire

Hi all before I start i would just like to say hello,

I had some little s**t pour petrol over my bonnet and set fire to it, we managed to put it out with minimal damage apart from a bit or plastic damage and some scourching to the paint, and a problem with the eas, unfortunately my insurance being a traders policy will not cover the damage and I am left with the bill, I have a very good accident repair garage that I use regularly who is repairing it but I think they may have a problem sorting the damage under the engine bay, under the bonnet on the drivers side near the bulk head there was a bit of damage , the first noticable thing was a pipe (maybe a breather) that runs from the rear of the engine through the side near the bulk head , also what is positioned there that could have melted that may cause just the front suspension to drop to the bump stops completely (just the front and not the rear) it is showing self levelling air inoperative on the faults or something like that, any help is appreciated.

Jesus!! You need to borrow a large base ball bat and wait for the little tw*ts Censored

Sorry to hear your bad luck................ and that we live in such times.

No idea about the damage personally but there are some top blokes on this site who should be able to help. Currently running FFRR MY10 TDV8 3.6L and a Disco 3 XS Commercial (tank like but very effective as a Company van). Plus one mint condition Track Day Car in the form of an E36 M3 3.2L Evolution circa June 1996 with lots of go faster bits and only 52k miles on the clock! Oh, plus a few bits to make it slow down really quickly as well! Luvverly.

My advice would be to suck up the cost of a couple hours labour at a LR Dealer and have them assess the damage professionally.

They will cost a bit (maybe £250) but they can give you a shopping list of parts and a top whack labour estimate to compare against. THE INVENTOR OF THE TERM "FULL-FAT RANGE ROVER" :

Yes I contacted my local dealers and thanks to the police for towing it away to have there forensics look at it at a cost of £180 to me I could not get it to the dealers in time for the easter holiday and they couldn't get it in until around the 19th ish, so I will have to get the paintwork done and then have it took to the dealer for a full inspection,

my bat is already waiting lol.

regarding the police "tow" cost, can't you sue them for repayment of the £180 as they took your vehicle away without your permission (I presume?)

The towing fee is normally recoverable through insurance. Not sure if the Traders policy covers it though... 02 Vogue

we did have the conversation with the police regarding this and the normal procedure is the insurance covers it, however my traders policy in the small print limits my policy to 3rd party only on certain vehicles with a specific value etc, although now my insurance has now been changed to cover this it is somewhat a bit late but thats life ahhh.
