Been thinking of a run around lately that i can start shoving loads of miles onto as crossing the country for court every month is taking its toll on the fuel bills and zipping acros the county every day or two or night as work needs it doesn't help..

These are something i looked at years ago an stupidly didn't buy one when they came out but seem to have dropped a lot for high miles examples...

They are very very quick, slugs when cold though IIRC so an FBH would be needed for me which is a do-able option with the amount of webasto's about that can be easily plumbed in

Engines are normally strong, not HDi strong but still good if looked after, and the interior and bits are pre VAG cheapening so pretty sturdy IIRC.

Anyone had one in the last few years?

looking for something that is cheap and a good c4 hasn't fallen into the range yet they get far to abused in services that are missed from my experience Xantias and BX's are harder to come by as well

I have toyed with a diesel one of these as i can get 60mpg out of them without trying too hard

I'm with you on this one, KP.
We had a 105 pd Tdi Fabia from brand new in 2002. Kept it for six years and it was bullet proof. Very well built with durable interior - although the VRS cars have that problem cloth, don't they ?

The trouble with getting a VRS now is finding a standard one - alot have been modified. Can't think why as after having driven one, I summised it was probably the quickest point to point car at the time !

I seem to remember the VRS having a very "snicky" gear change and shed loads of torque - they were superb.

Yeah just like the engine I remember that now. Though a fluid change to something better may help.

i guess a lot of people wanted extra torque from them but i went for the coop in the end as a point to point and cruising car

Just look at the economics, cost of the extra car/insurance/tax/maintenance versus the cost of the FFRR fuel/maintenance. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Have a wee look at my old Mercedes. This car regularly returned 52mpg & has most of the bells & whistles that you'd be used to in your FFRR. The car has full history & was totally pampered by me..Robert.

I nearly bought a vrs fabia new in 2005. They are great cars,there is a special run out model on a 07 plate with leather if your budget stretches

I've looked at the economics and will probably end up doing bangernomics again, IE buying something under £400 and doing anything thats urgent to it and making sure it has at least 4 months T&T and then run it for a bit and flog on for no or little loss, that way the insurance is about £30 a month and the tax and other bits aren't too much of an issue  FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Exactly, but at the moment with the FF sat on the driveway waiting for someone to lend me the tool to remove the injectors its not much fun
