TDV8 3.6 Range Rover Vogue SE / MY 2008 - Engine Oil Change

TDV8 3.6 Range Rover Vogue SE MY 2008

Q: Does any one know how to suck all the engine oil out of the top sump plug ? ( as they do at LR workshops )

The TDV8 has two drain plugs: one in the sump and one at the top of the engine.

The pan sump plug is easy but my local main LR dealer workshop told me that I need to suck the oil from the " top of the engine" to remove all the old oil in the pipes & two cylinder heads etc,. I want to chage the oil myself : i.e., I want to do this every 10,000 miles and not condition based service ( engine computer info ).

Can anyone tell me what and where to buy the necessary bits to suck the oilf from the top of the engine via the upper sump plug. Thanks

Where is the top sump plug located on the 4.4 litre TDV8 engine? I have a Pela extractor and other than sticking a tube down the oil filler hole (bad idea it seems) I've no idea how to locate this top sump plug.

Anywhere I can see pictures or drawings would be great as the proverbial picture tells a thousand words.

Trouble today is at the dealers your Range Rover disappears into a black hole and re-appears some hours later accompanied with a huge bill, and you're not allowed to watch anything being done.

I thought the dipstick tube was the usual route for oil extraction like this?

No dipstick just an electronic display showing level on dashboard.
