can someone confirm the car tax costs for a ffrr circa 2002/2004 for both diesel and petrol....i've been on the 'gov' site and 'think' the 4.4 is £245 but not sure for the diesel...

also are these tax's set to go up or stay the same...

my 2005 td6 is 245 for 12 hope this helps  i will never surrender to bling , mud and dirt all the way oh yeah . and pheasent blood in the back.

Over here in Malaysia, one road tax for my 4.2 is 1,000 GBP!

Six months ago, i paid 72,000 GBP for MY06 4.2 S/C (70k miles) with NO warranty.

The road tax bandings changed from 23rd March 2006. So most Td6 FFRR should be £245 for a years tax.
All the TDV8 should tbe £435.

yeah really annoying, they use less fuel yet the RFL is £435 - crazy

Fortunately the gov did a U-turn on backdating the new bandings to 2001 when VED started to be based on emissions. Otherwise we'd all be paying £435 per year!

They wanted to change it a year or two ago and got told to off. It was classed as a retrospective tax increase or something, which didn't go down too well.

Actually, many people thought it was great, all those nasty 4x4 drivers were going to get slapped with a bigger tax bill. Then the penny dropped and they realised the 7 seaters and practical cars used by many families often came in that band too...

Of course, anything can change. But they already tried to do this once and did a U-turn.

2001 cars are nearly 10 years old anyway, so its unlikely to change, the Government is probably just banking on the fact that they will just disappear off the road over time due to natural wastage - might keep the value of these cars slightly up in the meantime though. if you think about it how many vehicles do you see around that are over 15 years old, i.e. registered in the mid 90's - not many, the majority that are are probably LR products

Pity those who bought 2.4 Puma Engined Defenders thinking they would not be in a high tax band................... they pay £425 pa too. Glad I still have my 1996 TDi300 - cheap tax and extremely cheap insurance with Land Rover Insurance!
