TDV8 Service

MY TDV8 will be 2 years old at the end of the month and i,am wondering about the service. According to the manual it has a a variable service indicator to tell you when it needs servicing. When I had it nearly 12 months an indication came on the display telling me to have it serviced and gave me a date which corresponded to the car being 12 months old. This Censored me off at the time as the car had only done 4k. On mentioning it to the Stealers they said that it needed servicing every 12 months whatever the mileage, which isn't what the manual says This time i have had no indication, but I have had a letter from the Stealers that its due for servicing.
Any one out there know the REAL Story , not the fairy tail one from the Stealers!! Ex D1, D2, D3 owner now 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE

I have also been waiting for the service indicator to flash up - it has been well over a year since it was last serviced, but i still have a few thousand miles before it has done the 12000 miles since...

Your car is still within the 3yr warranty period (mine isn't Sad ) - Does it need to be inspected/serviced every 12months to keep the warranty valid Question

update to service saga!!
Went to my local independent LR service guy and he said that i could wait for the service indicator to tell me when to service but that i might have a problem with any subsequent warranty work, if the car was not serviced at least yearly. He gave me a quote for a 2 year service of £255 +vat which i think is very cheap, considering the price of synthetic oil these day. This guy used to work for the local stealers and has a good reputation, so will probably book in next week. Ex D1, D2, D3 owner now 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE

Is the Land Rover Warranty still valid if any servicing work is completed by anyone other than a Land Rover main dealer Question

Well the small print should be checked but I understood there was a rulling that said they should be to stop overpriced dealers screwing owners over.

I used to use main dealer for my after market warrantee but as the thing isn't worth the paper it's written on future services will be done by me and recorded on a £15 spy cam , saved to disc and become my service record. Simples!

Its unlikely I'll sell to anyone who doesn't pass the new owner interview anyway Wink

As long as genuine LR parts are used in the service then no problem with warranty. This is a Land rover approved garage and I know people who have used them for years and have had no problem with warranty later. They get their parts from the local stealer and use ex LR mechanics.- but their labour rate is about half the stealers. Ex D1, D2, D3 owner now 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE

Ten For Cash (10forcash) on the Disco3 forum is able to stamp service books and also carry out warranty work. His rates are most reasonable and he comes to you.

Non-franchised places can do the work and the warranty has to recognise this but there must also be some quality control over it as well I guess.
