Guernsey
VAT

As some of you will be aware, I am trying to export a FFRR from the mainland to Guernsey where VAT is not applicable. I've been informed that a dealer could sell the vehicle excluding VAT and then claim it back through HMRC.

Are there any clued up people on here that could tell me if this is true/possible? If so, I think I could get a 25k car for 20k

I hope I have not been mis informed!!! I'd kiss the ground for the welcome sound of me mother sayin 'Hinny Howay'

I think that the car has to be VAT qualifying which might mean it has been a contract hire or lease car where the previous owner has claimed the VAT back, if so it is usually sold stating VAT qualifying with a VAT invoice. My RRS was ex contract hire and i was given a VAT invoice but can't claim it back because it is a car for personal use. Hope this helps..
