SSRR TDV6 SE Discontinued

Interesting news: as of the end of January apparently it is impossible to order a SSRR as a TDV6 SE... thus essentially adding £10K to the headline price... bit cheeky of LR IMO as the TDV6 was available for less than a month, and part of the whole 'wow' factor with the new SSRR was the fact it was £20k cheaper than the L405. What do we think; clever-clogs marketing or perhaps the SS was treading on the L405's toes?

Not sure why anyone would buy the "Sport" model with the lowest power output engine though? Fine in the L405 but I'll bet not a lot of Sports were ordered with the SDV6. It would be like having the sheep in wolf's clothing TBH. The SDV8 has a far higher output with smoother power delivery and it's almost as quick as the 5.0 'Charger but with no loss of economy.

I'd still have the 405 though. Loftier and roomier. Worth the extra IMO.

Understand what you're saying, but its the TEN GRAND price jump that leaves me puzzled! Where's the money gone? Some fancier cow peelings and a power boost doesn't cover it IMHO.

Never does - look at everything else with the same engine but a different tune and a different badge. Germans have been doing it for years.

99.9% are leased anyway, so it's only a few quid a month more, and you might get a more impressive badge on the boot.

IIRC at the launch the only options in the UK were the 5.0SC and the 3.0SDV6 engine.

Has the 4.4 SDV8 now become an option? That should be fun long term i bet for reliability! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Yep, launched with SDV6 and SC V8 but with promise of TDV6 from Jan 14. Wonder if they actually made any at all in the end!? SDV8 now an option, as is Hybrid.

Why? Totally different platform from the last Sport.

Just look at the 3.6 tdv8 in the SSRR, doesn't seem to have a long life and IMO its due to it being in such a tight space and the way the average one is driven.

Only time will tell i guess FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Not sure why it should necessarily share any packaging problems of the old Discovery 3-based one. Can't be a lot of difference between L405 and L494 in terms of space under the bonnet, given they will both have been designed from the outset to use it.

Having seen the underbonnet of both, the continuance of the SSRR to have a tighter packed engine bay is there.

I must stress this is just IMO and not based on any data gathering but a simple look at the SSRR forum shows how often their TDV8's went pop Sad FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Presumably semi-skimmed, just as bad as full-fat (or perhaps I shouldn't say that here).

Yip, Semi Skimmed Range Rover.

Technically I could call the evoque Fully Skimmed Range Rover, in keeping with the main design influencer for the vehicle.... But Freelander with frilly skirt sea more apt :p FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
