What's your favourite mod or refurb?

As the title suggests.

What's your favourite L322 modification you've had done or the favourite item you've had refurbished?

A couple of obvious and relatively inexpensive ones to start the ball rolling:

1. External LED bulb upgrades, particularly the 5630 sidelight LED bulb upgrade as originally reccomended by forum member Prop - IMO these bulbs make the car more visible, therefore potentially enhance your road safety; and they also give an OE effect, crisp, modern light that keeps things looking nice, fresh and not dated.

2. Aluminium tread plate refurbishment. Originals professionally acid dipped, re polished/ linished and finished in OE "bright finish". Plates rendered 'brand new' again (such that I now have them bubble wrapped to stop them getting scuffed Laughing ).

Just curious on a miserable wet Friday evening!

Thumbs Up

+1 ^^^^ on another car

but currently on mine my front (fogs) and rear (reflectors) DRL's simply because they get used every time I use the car.

closely followed by 2nd battery in boot

closely followed by carpc

(it is all on the wiki Wink) .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

1, replaced steering wheel with a napppa leather/black wood one. its still got the smooth leather feel on sides, not a suede effect, blackwood parts look excellent and have slight advantage of being able to grab wheel with filthy hands, to move car, and not dirty the leather, ie wipe wheel wood clean.
l fitted paddle shifts at same time, at expense of heated rim, which new wheel didnt have. (ebay bargain at £150) i use paddles to hold a gear when towing a trailer, with car on, as it means i'm in control of the torque converter lock-up etc. hardly any need when normal driving.
2. i have lpg so, (probably THE best mod for early model!) so, big tank in spare wheel well. i cant drive without a spare wheel, so boot would be full with factory spare wheel in etc. so i sourced a disco 3 spacesaver wheel. i fitted it upright in boot like the classic has it. i didnt have a parcel shelf, so nothing lost except about 6 inches of width. i have a set of five steel wheel nuts to use with it, and it has a vinyl cover over it, and the sprinter jack and tools are inside its 'dish' -also means that in event of blowout, i dont have to empty the boot onto motorway etc.
3. i have the mk4 nav, which was easy to change out.
4. led external bulbs all round. plus SC rear lamps and mid model front end conversion. (cheap parts on ebay thesedays to do this mod) cherished plate hides its real age, (somewhat)
5, to set off the car (to me) as a mid model SC, i have had the foundry grey interior black parts sprayed 2pack black, even the nav itself. looks nice. (with charcoal interior)
6. 20 inch wheels -easy to buy. though i would only ever use factory LR, as easy for insurance companies to fob you off in event of claim etc.

oops, thats six!

Most favourite was a new flip style key bought from this very forum.
Others are foundry finish changed to walnut
Newer grilles front and side

Another good one is whenever it gets washed, always looks great
