I had the rear discs and pads changed today, £50, not bad. Now Vented, drilled & groved front and rear.

I did my front discs on Monday evening and rear discs last night. Took about 45mins per side, from start to finish. Fairly straight forward. If you do it, make sure you have new wear sensors as they seem to have a habit of breaking when they are coming out. Sad

Soz fella, didn't see your post there.

I paid £50 in labour for the front (this also included labour to fit a CV Boot) and then I paid £50 for the back a few weeks later BUT this included the handbrake shoes on the back.

I got the parts from Island4x4: http://www.island-4x4.co.uk/-c-144_145.html and I went for the Drilled & Grooved discs and so far have been very happy with them. The whole order came to £150 with free P&P and the discs look great through the 20" alloys!

This guy is an absolute star, I always pay him cash. Usually I leave the car with him the night before as he’s only down the road and pick it up after work the following day. He doesn’t have a courtesy car which is the only problem, but I just get the o/h to give me a lift.

cheers dan, i was silly in thinking you paid £50 for all the bits and fitting on the fronts...i have so much to learn about the 'not so' cheap costs that the FFRR ensues... ... - .- -.

I doubt there are many cars you can do a complete brake change for £150, and labour is labour... As long as you stay away from the dealerships!

To be fair I was all up for doing the discs myself, but couldn't get the Censored off! I'll try and do the next lot... I still want to bleed the brakes, will prolly do that this weekend weather permitting.

Sorry to resurrect this topic! In search of releasing my clinging disk, I arrived at this topic.

I managed to loosen mine by inserting a screw, a washer and a nut in the tweezer support and I was squeezing from behind until the disc came loose. It worked for me, the only problem is that it dents the disk protection a little, but nothing that pliers can't fix. Thumbs Up
