Tyres on LR AUC

Still searching for the right one.

Quite taken with a 4.2 Autobiography, but it wears Nexen tyres.

When it comes to tyres, I always buy a well known quality make and have heard many tales of economy ditch-finders

Should an AUC have "LR approved" rubber on?

Nexen have been making tyres since 1947, they come as standard on many new vehicles... Pete

I fitted Nexens last week as they were less than half the cost of pirellis and online review are quite complimentary"..however the standard tyre is a pirelli and I would therefore argue for a discount on the point. I have also seen dealer fit khumos, etc and they can say new tyres all round and I bet most people don't check the make. The dealer is trying to protect his margin by fitting budget tyres and I would be using it to strengthen my hand...but it wouldn't be a deal breaker. Good luck.

I've had Nexens on my TDV8 for 2 1/2 years and they're not showing much sign of wear at all. I wouldn't swap them in preference to a so called premium brand Thumbs Up Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

I'm a bit tyre OCD - When I'm buying a car, I always avoid anything with mismatched tyres - I take it as a sign that the car hasn't been well maintained & everything done on the cheap.

I'd buy a car with Nexens all round - but I'd probably change them - only because I heard they have softer sidewalls - and whilst I'm generally fairly sedate, I have been known to be more spirited at times and would prefer to corner on firmer sidewalls, even on the FFRR.

As above, I'd use it as a negotiating point.

I use Michelins in the summer & Vredesteins in the winter - full set of 5 of each - yep, the spare has to match too Embarassed

Nexens are fine, just a tad noisier. Previous cars:
S-Max 2007-2013 (only diesel I've had, good car but expensive when diesely bits go wrong, so what's the point?)
Galaxy 2001-2007
Mondeo Estate 1997-2001
Sierra Estate 1993-1997
Uno Turbo 1987 -1993
Fiesta 1984 - 1987
Fiat 127 1982 - 1984

Thanks for the responses chaps.

I suspect I'll use this to get a bit off the cost (Do Stratstones negotiate?) and buy a set of Continental / Michelin / Bridgestone's, etc.

Nexens are very good tyres, I have them on one of my ffrrs, that came with them, and they are great on road holding, in the wett, on hot roads and very stubborn, they wont wear off. Whistle as the pirellis f.e. They have softer sidewalls which gives you the impression they are under inflated, but that does not influence the driving experience. There a few other posts on the forum, where people are all very happy with them.
It would not botter meif they were on a car i'd like to buy.
I even bought 5 for my wifes Voyager
