NZ can top you with the bloody sand flies for sure.

Good that you talk about the volcanic/seismic activity. Yes the big quakes are a real shame but the flip side is Rotorua, Mount Taranaki (where we lived), Tongariro etc. A little shaking is normal, the big ones aren't fortunately but do happen and what happened in and around CC is really bad/sad (I have a friend there).

And a little tornado from time to time (New Plymouth has had a few that ripped of some roofs).

Lots of sun (even I get burned quickly there Smile )in most places outside the South West though.

Ultimately, to me, it is still the best by far as countries go although I wouldn't feel living in Scotland would be a punishment either (although never say that to a potential employer, it drives down the rates and allowances Smile ). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Oh heck - now we have a problem!!!

I have to agree with you about NZ and to be fair if HAD to leave Scotland I'd be happy to live in NZ - going by what colleagues & friends tell me.

Problem is Scotland is just so perfect to me that I can't bring myself to hand over its crown (but I fully respect where you are coming from).

Therefore I have only one thing to say....

SCOTLAND Thumbs Up

Nice point, but it's really what disasters make the news. Western Canada and the USA get earthquakes. They make news. Eastern Canada and USA get terrible winter. That it snows in Canada isn't a very newsworthy fact. More people killed on treacherous winter roads than in earthquakes.
Shocked Having written that, now terrified that I've tempted fate and the earthquake gods will be out to get me. Big Cry

Even if you get an earth quake you'll be safe in your padded cell Rolling with laughter

Oh dear

There are so many people who just don't know....................... Oz is most def en atley God's country, we don't get earth quakes Ok so there was one in Newcastle a few years ago, we don't get volcanoes, we get the odd bit of flooding, Newcastle again, and Queensland come to think of it and a few big winds now and again but were else can you go from the city center 2 hours drive and be in a place of buety untouched by the parasites called the human race and be at one with nature........

I'v lived and served in a far few country's and Oz would be the first on the list followed by Scotland then Alaska and Canada.

But even here the great race for money is destroying places that once gone will never return.....

It doesn't matter how grate a place is the human race will flock it up given time
