That is the DC100 concept which was first seen in 2011. The new design for the Defender has apparently been signed off at Landrover but no pictures as yet. Current Fleet:-

2021 Ford Ranger Wildtrack
2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt 5.0 V8
1993 Defender 90 200TDI Pickup

2012 L322 4.4 Westminster
2004 L322 4.4 V8 Autobiography LE
2000 P38 RR 4.0 HSE (ex Clarkson test car)

We went to Gaydon last week and was told categorically the DC100 Concept will NOT be the Defender replacement as there was UPROAR when the concept was released to the general public... Thumbs Up

It's been a gaping hole in the Land Rover product line for at least 25 years. We all like the Defender but not many of us could live with one as a daily vehicle, and that's why millions of Toyota's, Nissan's etc have been sold all over the world - a lot of the time in territories that used to be the exclusive preserve of Land Rover.

true - but Landrover have to get it right...
- it has to be as rugged and as capable as the current one
- it has to remove all the issue of the current one (seating position / arm space / heating / noise / clunky nature / uncomfortable / etc.)
- it has to hit a certain price point
- it has to fit in with the JLR current direction (yes defender = functional) but all of LR has a degree of luxury for the market sector as well...
- it has to consider reliability
- it needs to work internationally
- needs to be commercial & domestic

a combination of requirements LR have never managed to this day... Smile

it will be interesting to see if they do manage it

Whatever it looks like....the existing defender owners are sure to see their already value holding vehicles either hold further or even increase as the 'iconic' status grows Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

Last week I went with others to the JLR Design Centre at Gaydon for the tour.
Talking with our guide, I snook in the question -
"Will the new Defender have chrome mirrors & Union Jack roof stickers or can we expect them to be in the middle of a field fixing power lines ?"
There was no definitive answer - obviously - but one hell of a rye smile . . .

Chrome mirrors it is then . . . Big Cry

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Not that I'm bothered, but it's interesting that folk say "it won't look like that" but don't say what it will look like.

I say again I couldn't actually care less as I'm not a farmer Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Geoff

That concept was the plan for a while and then they said they'd scrapped the idea, as previously posted, it seems the devotees out there had other ideas.

I do like the front window frame though. Sort of reminds me of something else...... Now what was it....... Rolling with laughter

Interesting to see what they come up with next then....... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Hardly surprising really given it's a re-badged Skoda Yeti. Fekkin 'orrible. Even my Mrs who hated my Deafeners said that DC100 looked nastier than smallpox.

Lets hope it doent have air suspension, looks like the ewok, sport and 405 FF with the squashed back end look and small rear windows, they will of truly spoilt what Defender is all about and I also bet they dont even put a nice big petrol engine in it..... If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

I was at Guy Salmon last night mulling over a defender and am returning tonight to mull some more..... I quite like the look of this version to be honest. Regards

I think thats an Autocar interpretation of what the new Defender 'could' look like - according to the article. As said earlier, the design of the new Defender is an industry secret at the moment and there are no pictures of what it will look like yet. Current Fleet:-
2018 Discovery 5 3.0 HSE
2021 Ford Ranger Wildtrack
2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt 5.0 V8
