Venture Cam - Pure Gimmick??

Okay, so I am interested to know what you all think to the Venture Cam - it always struck me as a pure gimmick - tell me if I'm wrong Whistle

I can just about see the "mounted in the horse box" use, but that is surely it - if not then tell us all when and why you would otherwise use a Venture Cam Thumbs Up

Clean answers only please.

I bought one to stick to the back of my covered car trailer....sort of reversing camera for the trailer. Of course it would help if my car was fitted up for them Sad 2011 4.4 TDv8 Vogue SE

Ahh, wiring plug is behind the dash (well it is on my VSE) Thumbs Up

Presumably you install the holder & turn on a CCF file?

Yep you turn it on in the CCF, mine did not come out from the factory with one but when activated in the CCF

its all ready to go (just gotta get a cam that works now)

But back to its uses apart from on the back of a trailer (reversing), reversing on to the tow hook seeing where your wheels are when picking a line out in the scrub, mounting under the car to see how much movement you have in bushes ect great for finding that annoying knock thats only there sometimes

just a few thoughts

I always understood it was intended to help with off roading, tight bits, hilly stuff so that you can see "through the bonnet" type thing. Although I would probably never use it, I would love to have one on mine, just in case I wanted to use it Wink MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Got one, even remanufactured a look alike mount,
Used (other than playing with it when first had the car) exactly never!
Sorry a bit of a gimmick imho,
Went on Landrover experience tried a FF with the surrounded cameras off road. Again gimmick A couple didn't work because of it being wet!
Reverse camera is worth it. Mine was a blue one! Smile

Wasn't it designed as a camera for "one's driver" to get out and show "one" the view? Whistle

My idea was to semi-permanently mount the camera on rear of the trailer so I could have a reverse camera on the trailer itself. 2011 4.4 TDv8 Vogue SE

Whats the part number for the dock in the glove box then?

I might get one just for the hell of it. The cam's them selves are readily available on flebay but no docks.

I assume they all work from early to late models.

Censored that, the dock alone is 300 quid plus.
