td6 remap

after having my gearbox rebuilt a year ago ive felt the car wasn't running right, so one of my friends who owns a 535d bmw had his remapped and raved about it so I thought id get the td6 done.

so yesterday morning the guy turned up at my house to do my remap, 205 bhp 440 ftlbs torque, after he did his stuff we went for a test run.

what can I say, the improved running of the car is very noticeable, gear changes are better and seem to be less frequent and the car pulls significanty better, economy wont be discussed as its a ffrr, anyway mrs monty was itching to get behind the wheel, so off we went for a run out( 70 miles actually) and she was amazed at the difference to the car, overtaking has always been a bit daunting in the td6 but what a difference it is now, mrs monty also says the car is a lot quieter

I now think we will be keeping the car (I was looking to buy a tdv8 sport to get some umphh) its quite refreshing to feel the td6 drives as it should.

ill keep you all up to date with any issues we may come across.

I used to have a V10 Touareg which I had remapped, 0-60 time went down from by 1s to 6s. Not bad for nearly 3 tons of car. Everything about the performance was improved. If I have another diesel I will be doing it again.
Who did yours? Mine was done by emaps, they also did my Dad's E46 330D which greatly improved the performance.

i had mine done by rapid remaps and like you mine was immediately more responsive and smoother but that only lasted about ten days and then it all seemed to go back to as it was....
i hope yours is a genuine remap as i think mine was just a upload of a OE factory map.

The JE Engineering remap has even more power and torque, with about a further 50bhp and 100 torques over stock.

Costs about twice the price though......

I'm still toying with the idea of a remap but my only concern is the box!
Will the TD6 box cope with the extra Torque?

I think the td6 box problem is more related to gear changes, this wears the box out over time and causes the problem, mine doesn't change gear as much now.

The mid range performance of the car after the remap is amazing, from 40 mph it pus like a train.

I did consider the je remap but thought I'd give this a go first, remapping the td6 certainly makes it the car it always should of been

Makes it a different car.

Alive tuning did my td5 Disco back in 2007 when they were td5 alive. I can well recommend them. Faultless work. Kept the car longer because of it.

Been searching for TD6 remaps and saw your comment MJdronfield about the JE Engineering remap, is that the one you have? How do you find it? Still going strong?

No issues. Very pleased.

A much nicer drive. It's more about the torque for me, as I don't go revving it much. Nice mid range and bottom end. More relaxed.

Will pick up its frock and run if required though.
