why (or why not) to go for the Autobiography over SE?

Started shopping around a 2013'ish RR, prices seem to be a tad higher for the Autobiography - just thought I'd ask if it's worth the extra? Anyone been in this position, and if so which did you go for? Is there really much of a difference?

We've had both (Autobiography first).

To be honest, if you can live without the leather-lined roof (that's inside, not outside...) and a few other such trinkets, there's not much in it. We spec'd exactly the same trim/colours inside and out for both (imaginative, I know) and we don't feel particular impoverished in the VSE, it has to be said.

Assume that you are not after the petrol engine as, obviously, that's only in the posh one.

If it's worth the extra to you, then it's worth the extra!

Hi,

I'm in agreement with Flugplatz. I had a VSE (specced to my choice which did cherry pick a few choice bits of the AB) and now have an AB. Would I have paid extra for the leather headlining. No.

I think the VSE interior is quite plasticky for the price point to be honest. Too much leather look material.

When I was looking, I sat in both a Vogue SE and an Autobiography.

To me, the difference was noticeable. The extra touches in the Autobiography were enough to swing it (particularly at this price point).

I guess some of it is that I have had a string of exotica and the extra touches delight me.

YMMV.

There seems to be a real split in opinions... Very interesting...

I couldn't stand to be without the Autobiography leather extra's personally. Thumbs Up

I'm still not sure of exactly what the difference is, what type of things are we talking about?

Apart from the lovely leather roof lining, it is trim things like a leather top to the dash etc, etc.

There are some functional differences as well (the Autobiography has the camera system as std, I think, plus the blind-spot warning etc).

We had an FF last year and I don't think that the VSE feels out of place (350bhp delta notwithstanding), but...

Go with what your own feeling is, that is the most reliable way to contentment!

The AB has the remote park heat (FBH) as standard, that is a £1k option on the VSE. There arent many used VSE's available with the remote park heat option. It's a must for me as it's a luxury that differentiates the FFRR from other marques, and makes early winter mornings more comfortable. MY23 D350 HSE

The essential items im looking for is pan roof, rear entertainment, executive class seating and deployable sidesteps. Park heating sounds nice I must say. This is going to be (by a clear mile) the most expensive car I'll have ever owned, I had a RRS sport a couple of years ago but have an e-class cabriolet now.

I ordered (and cancelled) an i8 as I'm the only driver in the household and realised really I'd need a decent second family car - that's when I thought rather than have 2 cars, combine and go for a luxury family car that does everything and just stick to a single car in the household.

I would go for an Autobiography. They aren't loads more than the VSE and the cabin is much nicer. I hate the plastic doors and dash materials on the VSE.

I test drove a 4.4 Autobiography and bought a 3.0 VSE.

I didn't like the handling of the 4.4 (adaptive dynamics notwithstanding) and the leather headlining seemed tacky.

Each to their own of course. Thumbs Up
