Anti roll bar drop links? These give a chattering if you haven't already done then. Cheap and can be done with the car on the ground and wheels on. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Found it eventually, front calliper was overtightened and bolt was stripped in calliper! Helicoiled as new thank god 😎 _____________________________________________________

Dealer supplied genuine bolts stripped

Just replaced my callipers and bolts with genuine LR main dealer bolts which stripped at 45ft/lb on two occasions. In differing holes. The cradle holes had been cleaned out prior to refit with a thread cleaner made out of the old bolts by putting a couple of saw cuts in them. They were clean and free running.
I was using a trusted torque bar not a click wrench. So every stage was as it should be.
The bolts are disgned to self lock when torqued up correctly, they are a part that should be replaced not reused. But these failed well before they were anywhere near the correct level required to self lock.
My bro in law is a stress prediction gurue in the space industry so I showed him the bolts. He was amazed that they gave way and started to unwind at so lower torque.
So all I am saying is feel for the bolts going down properly to the correct torque. I was fortunate I felt it ease off and backed them out.
Could have had dia consequences if not spotted. Eddie the eagle watch out 👀

OVERTIGHTENED!!! Sniggering Don’t think so!!! We always torque calliper bolts!

I presume the thread in the aluminium calliper has reacted with the steel bolt seizing! and as your mechanic has undone them he has stripped the thread out, blaming it on the “last bloke that did them up”

These callipers are changed regularly due to this issue! Your mechanic (if experienced working on RR’s) would know this Rolling Eyes Banging Head

One of the bolts did the same in my old calipers. They had never been off as the car was on its original discs when I changed them, and it felt tight coming out, bought most of the thread with it! was enough left in to re torque a new bolt though.

New calipers on now. Which tbh need new bolts! But at least the worry of having one dodgy fixing is gone! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

im a bit confused as brakes and calipers have NEVER been touched by me or anyone till this point? the chattering has got louder and after looking under the wheel the bolt could be pulled out by a sharp pull by his fingers and the thread in caliper was mor eor less gone thats why he coiled a new hole Confused _____________________________________________________
