Transmission durabillity due to different driving styles

How would you say the driving style affect the durabillity of the transmission zf5hp24? After reading about everyones problems with the gearbox ive found myself driving perhaps a bit to carefully (even the gf gets irritated). Getting the feeling it will fail the moment il push it to hard.
My own transsmissions is at 62k miles with new oil and filter. L322 Vogue 2003

The ZF transmissions are not the problem in the FFRRs. The GM transmission in the TD6 (and other cars / brands) of that generation. I wouldn't worry about it, just drive the car the way it is meant.

Make sure the ATF and filter are changed regularly as per Cam Tech Craig recommendations (sorry you have to search a bit).

Despite my gearbox issues in the 4.2 (ruptured cooler) I'd still drive it brisquely when I feel like it. In Lagos you don't have much open road but when I did, I really liked to open up the 4.2.

Another thing is letting everything, engine, gearbox and diffs, warm up properly before you really hit the pedal but my recommendation is drive it like a normal car not too agressive when warming up but after that give it some stick otherwise it will gunk up Smile. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

They are probably good transmissions, the issue is the torque converters i belive wich are to weak for theese heavy cars am i correct?

What are the expected lifetime of a zf5hp24 with no oil and filter changed vs one where you change reguraly? L322 Vogue 2003

One of the worst things that can happen in owning a car is lack of confidence in the vehicle, it then effects just about every aspect of owning it....

You have bought a great vehicle but as we all know they do like to go wrong occasionally.

You have to change your mindset... it's a vehicle, all vehicles go wrong now and again and when they do we fix them and carry on... apart from not abusing it, it doesn't make much difference how you drive, if it's going to go wrong it will..

Just enjoy driving one of the best cars in the world and forget about what might happen....

And your question doesn't really have an answer, some solder on for many miles with no servicing, others will fail prematurely, personally I'd err on the side of over servicing as it can't really harm anything but may just help...

It's a bit like taking an aspirin when you have a headache, you don't know if it worked, or if the pain would have gone anyway..

Now go and drive it and enjoy it.... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Pete

It also seems most of the weak points on these, gearbox, diffs, cooling system, electric fan are all the BMW parts. Just think, you could have bought a BMW, which was ALL made of BMW parts. Laughing
