jettec,

Confirm if twin damper ARC Valve block was fitted.

As already mentioned in this post by 5.0, all other work is considered fruitless in fixing this issue.

When you say the Valve Block has already been replaced, what with?

If it was like-for-like, then you still have the problem component fitted.

Speak to your dealer and also mail LR Customer Relations (who should be able to check and confirm which Valve Block you had second time).

Failing that, stick your Dealer onto this website, so they know what they are looking for.

It's a sod when after all that work it's not fixed, but you need to investigate and this should be your solution to the knocking.

Stick with it Thumbs Up

Hi guys, just back from service department,
They have now replaced the ARC valve block and the two front air struts.
Guess what NO MORE CLUNCKING OR BANGING !
So it looks like you were right !
I sent message to JLR customer relations and took the car into dealers and they listened ! Now all is perfect. The ride is now a sereen experience the car just floats along and soaks up all the bumps no more head bobing from side to side or things that go bump clang in the night.
Thankyou all very much for your help.

Mine went in today, confirmed knocking but they want to change bushes, and say their us a back order for the with no known date for stock arrival so they will ring me in a few weeks when they hear something.

Well done Land Rover, I now remember why I sold every other Range Rover I bought.

I just got back from driving my 2013 AB SDV8 over typical roads in Kent. Its almost getting unbearable, every time the near side drops into a road gutter or pothole, and it doesn't need to be much of a pothole , the whole car knocks from the front. I was sort of led to think it was the 22 inch wheels resonating, but its definitely a knock. I was told the dealer did the ARB bushes, but its as bad as ever, and makes me want to use another car instead, drives me to distraction. I have just bought a convertible AM with super low profile tyres and that rides the same roads like a Rolls. I mean, for a luxury car like the RR to drive, sound and feel like this is dreadful. Can someone tell me what to insist upon the dealer doing please? I am 3 years old in September and want this sorting before its out of warranty so now is the time to kick up a fuss about it. All help much appreciated. thanks 2006 S/C owned from new. Black, sand with black inserts. Shes a thirsty girl. ( now gone)

Well i had the same issues on my 2013 - i think my dealer changed the complete drive train under warranty and added what is called by LR - ''a kit for sensible drivers'' - sorry for the bad translation...

Now everything is fine... Cool All my spelling errorz are belong to me!

Replacing the Valve block, LR061527 in my MY2014 finally solved the suspension knock. The procedure is described in Technical bulletin LTB00557v8.

thank you gentlemen. i will speak with the dealer tomorrow. i run a 1972 range rover which rides the roads better than this. its a great car but really unrefined ride on the 22 inch wheels. mentioned above the concrete road performance is abysmal . there is a section of the m25 in surrey where at 72 mph you cannot hear yourself think . if they are so bad on the 22 inch wheels why do they supply them? 2006 S/C owned from new. well I have booked it into today and have a drive out arranged with the technician who hopefully will acknowledge the problem. They would not tell me what they did last time if anything. I suspect if they did anything they replaced some bushes rather than the whole valve block. So to be clear on my engineering here. The ARB is hydraulically controlled yes? This has some sort of ECU which controls roll and bump control? The car does not lean on the corners, but just allows road imperfections to judder through the whole car. I wish I could see a schematic of the technology I would stand a better chance of arguing the point with JLR. As someone else mentioned it feels to all intense and purposes as a bush has gone or a shock absorber is not working without the old bouncing up and down when an old style shocker gave up the ghost. Grr technology.

edit, I did wonder whether it resonance working through the deployable side steps. It sounds very like the sound you get when the step closes or opens, in fact I think it mainly bangs when it opens. Anyone? 2006 S/C owned from new. Black, sand with black inserts. Shes a thirsty girl. ( now gone)

Well that was a total waste of time. Car came back from the dealer exactly the same condition of ride discomfort. For my wife and kids to notice the car rides like a truck with flat tyres over corrugated concrete, something has to be bad, but LR dealer cannot find it. They tell me that they have to have the car back for another week to go through a process of trial and error. Trial and effini error? I don't buy a car like this to waste time and mental energy on this sort of thing. I don't do nearly right, its either right or wrong, and my car is wrong. Time for a change, its just given me too much aggro. This is the 16th new RR I have bought, I love them, but this one winds me up every time I go near it now. Shame and an expensive folly. 2006 S/C owned from new. Black, sand with black inserts. Shes a thirsty girl. ( now gone)
