When the Audi met the Peugeot

Young fella going too hard round a hairpin bend and lost control. Luckily he put his hands up and took the blame so I don't even have to claim my insurance. His insurance company called me and have sent me a car until mine is repaired, so I have to slum it in a 7 Series for at least two weeks

My bill will exceed £8k to his insurance company, so he's in for an expensive renewal quote

I take it you still have to contact your own insurance company and tell them?
That could have been so much worse if the speeds were just a bit higher and even worse if you had been on yir push bike. Previously..

First port of call was to contact my insurance company, they suggested contacting 3rd party insurance and making a 'non fault claim' once I had obtained an estimate for the repairs. Before I had the chance to contact 3rd party insurance, they phoned me and said that the 3rd party was entirely to blame and they would foot the bill for everything.

They did send me a list of their preferred repairers and I took it along to the chap I have been using for years for paintwork. He took a look and said the top two on the list were cowboys (which was enough for me) and told me to take it to Audi and let them repair it as he knows a couple of guys that work there and the standards are extremely high. So it's going to Audi Hillington next Wednesday. My usual chap is so busy it would be 4 weeks before he could start the work.

I called my insurance company yesterday to update them on what was happening and they called the 3rd party insurance then my insurance company called me back to say they were closing their/my file as the 3rd party insurance company was taking care of everything.

Yes it caused me a lot of hassle and agro, but the 3rd party insurance were almost instantly on the ball, luckily the Peugeot owner took full responsibility and made the whole episode easy to resolve.

My only gripe would be that it took the replacement car longer to arrive than it should have done, they were trying to give me a car unsuitable for my use and it took many phone calls to get the message through to them, but that mistake will cost them with my loss of earnings
