Car Insurance question

Morning Gang...

Quick question for you all if I may. I have the Rang Rover, a Merc CLK and Mrs Comports has her Kuga. I have 2 insurance policies for both of mine and she has one for hers.

Is there some kind of plan (like a traders policy) that we can 1 policy that covers all (any) cars we own so we only have 1 premium and a bit cheaper than paying on 3 policies..

I think in total we pay somewhere around 800 - 1000 per year on these 3 combined.

Thanks
Ash Ash

Not found one for domestic owners, other than the multicar policies. Our fleet policy at work does this - many many drivers, and eight vehicles.

Currently each vehicle has to be insured, and then drivers insured to drive it.

However it would make sense to have a group policy as you suggest, that covers cars and drivers together in one policy.

Maybe A Plan (forum sponsor) could advise on why/why not. I might ask my fleet insurers too.

I am in the same situation, if I add my kids cars (which I occasionally need to drive) I have 6! .

Don't think there is one at the moment which is commercially available. An insurance broker like A plan may be able to help more. Or maybe there is one local to you which you could sit down with and explain your needs. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

My wife, myself and my son were on an Admiral multi-car policy. Our renewal came in and without any changes in circumstances for any of us, it increased by nearly 50%. Took out 3 individual policies, 2 with Admiral, believe it it not and all 3 came to less than the total for the multi-car.
Despite many increasingly frustrating phone coversations with them, they refused to budge on the multi-car price, even when we produced evidence that their individual polices came to less than the single policy price. Censored

The moral of the story is, don't assume a multi car policy will cost less than 3 separate policies, even with the same company. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

We are moving from an Aviva multi-car to separate policies next month.

As always, once the initial new customer discount expires at the end of year one, it doesn't pay to remain with the same insurer I have found. Several companies do this type of policy- we have in the past used Direct Line, Aviva, LV- and they work best if there are more vehicles than drivers I've found.

I just got my Admiral multi car renewal quote and it's a big increase on last year's. I'm thinking a broker may be a better option. Crying or Very sad 2024 Range Rover P550e AB

Thanks guys

I did go down the route of a multiyear policy but it dee indeed work out more expensive for some reason hence my question.

Think I may call a-plan for chat to see whats out there.

Cheers for the advice Ash

I would say Comports if I got those three policies for sub 1k I'd be very happy. I appreciate there are many variables with car insurance but you and I both have the same RR. SWMBO has a 635 convertible and those two alone are over 1k. I dont live in a particularly bad area either and would assume the Merc and the BM are not a million miles apart. (our third car, a corsa, is thru GoGirl due to a teenage driver)

Are you sure you need to expend time looking for a reduction when you may well have a prices to start with?

It's a PITA but you need to shop round every renewal time. I have had a renew quote from one insurer £200 above the same quote I get on line from directwecomparethechurchil.com for the same insurer, You just end up having a frustrating phone call and end up moving anyway.
One tip certainly for a younger driver put some more mature drivers on the policy it reduces the premium a heck of a lot.

Thanks all - will have a ring around for a laugh but not waste too much time if they are looking no better..

@Ajac - I kind of made it from a much larger image I "found" online when looking for desktop wallpapers actually (sad I know) but I quite like it.... Very Happy Ash
