i recently bought a very tatty set of overfinch tigers, they had a very bad spray job on them, so i managed to pick them up for peanuts. They are replicas, so when i took them to get refurbed, they done a cracking job and they look like new again. Now heres the problem, when dipping and stripping them back to original, the wee fake bolts at the end of each spoke pretty much melted lol. So any ideas on how i can fix them, obviously there is no threads to screw new bolts into. so would just need to be makeshift. Any ideas.??? help lol

You could get stainless boolts with hex heads the right size and then glue them in?

Where did you get your wheels done, I see you are in the Glasgow area. I have a set of similar wheels sitting needing a refurb. V8 or else ...

I would not use replicas in the first place on a Range Rover....  All my spelling errorz are belong to me!

I know but after forking out a fortune for the range and getting offered these so cheap I couldn't really refuse.

I'm with Frank on this one - fake wheels aren't usually up to the job - they can crack or give way completely as they are not properly load rated.

I would never trust them, which means I could never be happy driving with them on.

If you really must, then fisha has the best idea - something like these or whatever the right size is, glued into place.

From the RRS side - worst case scenario - replica O/F seven let go with no warning

and I've reconsidered the bolt idea - the thought of one of those (or several) flying out at speed doesn't really bear thinking about.....

Not worth the price of refurbishing really , they are going to crack sooner or later . Glueing screw heads on is a dangerous idea and tapping a thread is going to damage the coating and who knows weaken a the wheel further .

I wouldn't put replica's on any car. Especially a full fat.
Gluing bolts in is the most ridiculous suggestion I've ever heard of.
Let me know when and where you are going to be driving and I will steer clear of the area. There isn't a glue I know of that would work or be strong enough in such an aggressive area.
Do not tap them either - it will start a stress point and could cause a hairline crack.
Tell your insurance company you have modified wheels cause you are going to need it.
Scrap them and buy a beer with your lucky reward!

You are probably feeling more than a little delated at the moment but the old saying, don't spoil the ship for a ha'p'orth of tar, was never more apt than it is now.

The only question you need to ask yourself is this; do you really want to trust your life and your pride and joy to unknown quantity (likely) Chinese copy wheels?

You would be much better off selling them, swallowing any financial loss and save for the real thing because all that glitters is not gold.

There is a hole all the way through the arm, so it was a suggestion of a small bolt slotted into a matching hole. To stop the bolt coming out, the bond would have to prevent it sliding out laterally. The radial force of the spinning wheel isn't necessarily going to transfer 90degrees to push out the bolt. Are you telling me that glue/adhesives/bonding agents don't exist to stop a bolt coming out sideways?

I wasnt suggestions just a little bolt head glued onto the surface only or that prit stick would be the glue.. V8 or else ...
