Goodwood - First glance

Watching this now on ITV 4
Julia Bradbury testing the Jaguar and Tesla SUV's.
To quote Nigel Farage - "who are yah?" Are we really interested in what you've got to say!

They'll roll out any minor celeb nowadays to comment.
Who are yah? Travelling around in circles again.

The reviews of the cars are a bit perfunctory but a nice taster of what's to come if you can afford it. Travelling around in circles again.

Not sure if relevant to Goodwood, but on Top Gear on Sunday they did a piece on the Jaguar XJ13 with Norman Dewis.
Couple of years ago I was at Prescott with a friend wo had just finished rebuilding a '64 E-Type Roadster (he also has a Lightweight and an XKR!), anyway, Norman Dewis was at Prescott with the XJ13 doing some runs up the Hill Climb Course.

I took quite a few pictures of the Jag with Norman, and later on I had a chat with him, hoping that I could have got some images printed there and signed, which I couldnt. Anyway, he very kindly gave me his address and said that he would sign them for me.

Roll on a few years (2014 actually!) and I was at the British GP, the lady who owned the B&B I stayed it turned out to be related to Stuart Rolt, who is Tony Rolt's son, I said that I had these pictures of Norman Dewis and hadnt got round to sending them to him as I thought he would have forgotten, she said that I should send them so I printed off some A4 images and duly sent them off.

About a week later I got the signed photographs back from Norman Dewis together with a really nice letter from him! So they are both now framed and hanging up in my Motor Sport (and model building!) box room!!

As Chris Evans rightly said, the guy is a legend!! He is now well into his 80's and still travelling round giving talks, and many people are not awrae that he was partly responsible for the development of the disc brake, and I also think he was involved with the Dunlop Maxaret anti-lock braking system.

I also managed to get a copy of the image that was taken on the morning when the XJ13 was written off, what he didnt say on Top Gear was that he got himself under the scuttle in the Jag when it was barrel-rolling and hung on!!
