I am experiencing a loud noise from the rear of the car when the vehicle has stopped and the engine/ignition is off. It sounds like a very piercing whistle/whine type of noise and continues for a couple of minutes and then stops. This happens every time the car is used and seems to be getting worse. Is it something to do with the air suspension pump I ask myself?

So do you lower to access height before stopping engine or do you stay at road height.

Sounds as if compressor is doing its job. Sometimes I hear a faint whistle under similar circumstances to yours after I lower to access.

I have traced the noise is coming from somewhere in the vicinity of the rear right hand corner of the spare wheel enclosure - I decided against going further and getting a hernia from removing the wheel - I may have to go to the 'stealer' for them to remove the problem and my wallet

hi, there is currently a recall from LR to do with potential faulty suspension compressor, they replaced the compressor silencer on mine last week.
its probably worth contacting LR to see if your car might be affected

After 30 minutes checking the suspension and the compressor, the technician noticed the electric towbar indicator light on the switch was blinking and it would appear that the noise was an alarm to tell you it wasn't fully stowed. It was fully stowed but the system wasn't aware of that, so a system reset and re-program corrected the issue. €70 went out of the wallet but I did get the re-set instructions if it happens again.

Ah hah, I had my electric towbar on a previous car do this. I followed the reset procedure several times (it is in the user manual) to no avail. However, mine was warning permanently and too annoying to drive. LR Assist came out and could not reset even with computer and the car was deemed unrepairable. A courtesy car supplied and a complete new electric towbar assembly fitted to cure it.
