Shalz, you won’t get an SL55 in budget (or at least a nice one) and as said above, you appear to have an itch for a 996 so...... Scratch it! I would buy the nicest (preferably a turbo bodied/cabriolet car) you can find and my prediction is in 3yrs it will have appreciated by up to 25% sir... You won’t find that with level of depreciation with the others mentioned above...

Need proof as to the theory? Check out the price of 996 Turbo’s compared to last year Shocked The desirable rest will follow suit! If only slower Thumbs Up

Did like the look of the alfa, but we've had one spider in the extended family and it didn't fare well....

996 Turbo unfortunately is way out of budget - they have appreciated and are now north of £30k

I think I'll just have to scratch this 996 itch and keep my fingers crossed (used to it with an FFRR anyway).... MY11 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - "African Queen"

Shalz, please read my post again sir... I didn't say to buy a turbo as i was sure thats not in your budget... But a turbo bodied car sir C4S or alike as they are widely tipped to make the most appreciation... Thumbs Up

thanks CTC, re-read and get where you are coming from - the good C4S cars are also above £20k but the C4 I'm looking at has the GT3 aero kit (although not a valid substitute for the uprated brakes and suspension)...

appreciation will be a bonus but hopefully even the C4 cars that are maintained well will at least hold their value...

will send more details of the car once I come across it

anyone who wants to cast an informed eye over the paperwork is welcome and may be rewarded with beer tokens at the next available opportunity...

ETA - doesn't help that insurance on the porsche is less than my ford focus!!! MY11 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - "African Queen"

Sorry don't know how to turn it round.

Take a look at that then - this is my 996 that I sold about 10 years ago to a mate who has put all those miles on it! - Without too much trouble.

One of the very best readers cars threads on piston heads is about an old 996. The owner uses it for European cross continent high speed runs , some Motorsport connection, give me a minute..

I had a 996 a couple of years ago. Fantastic car and they are seriously on the increase in value at the mo Shocked . When i got mine a few years ago you could get in a snotter 996 for under £6k and a half decent one for £8-10k. But now they are on the up (guess its due to the air cooled earlier cars getting beyond the reach of most people)

This was mine
