TV advice

Morning all,

I'm after some advice on a TV for the 'van.....

Needs to be 12v compatible, and 24" fits perfect in the space we have.

Looking at getting a Cello 24" off a well known auction site that seems to fit the bill, so any feedback on the Cello TV's would be appreciated.

Avtex TV's seem to be common, but why pay £100's more if the Cello does the same job?

Then again, do Samsung TV's run on 12v and then all I need is a lead? They have a good reputation with TV's, unfortunately not with their phones Laughing

Any comments gratefully received. Thumbs Up

Evening Marty,

We use a 240 volt Sony as our main tv in the lounge area of our van but I've put a small 12/24v Cello with DVD in the bedroom on a bracket and have been very impressed with it for the price, as you say Avtex are overpriced! The only minor issue is you can't really watch it at much of an angle from the screen when dark parts of any shows are on as it's too dark in places, but very reasonable for the price 👍🏻

? Why does it need to be 12v ?

If you are going off grid then why not just get a small inverter, which can be had very cheaply and are easily available.

Modern tellys don't draw much wattage about 20w... so a small one would do a 24". I have a cheap 24" 240v tv/DVD from currys in our van.

Something like this

Works fine, and add something like this http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-12v-pure-...rter-a71jw to run it from the battery. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Avtex make a good TV. Impressed with mine. Not cheap, but you know what they say...buy cheap, buy twice Whistle Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

Morning gents,

thanks very much for the comments and feedback.

Completely agree with N1cktdv8, I usually buy the best available as you have to pay for quality IMO, but £424 for the 24" writes that option out.

Great idea from northernmonkeyjones with the inverter. Yes they can be bought cheaper than Maplins, and I suspect a 240v Samsung would be a better TV than a £130 Cello. The only issue is cables/inverter taking up space where I want to locate the TV (and I'm slightly OCD with regards to hidden cables, etc. Laughing )

Viewing angle shouldn't be a problem, but thanks peejay. There's only me and my Doris watching it, not screaming s Censored t machines all over the place.

I reckon I'll get the 24" Cello as no-one has said "avoid at all costs" and see how it goes. If it's terrible it'll simply get returned as 'unfit for purpose' or break Whistle

Thanks again,

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Just bought a 24" avtex! Not cheap, but it does what it says on the tin! I've got a Vuqube and satellite version of avtex! No receivers just plug in and play! Brilliant
