well the bubble has burst (fixed)

My first problem after 11 months of trouble free driving the car has let me down - neither of the smart keys are working Big Cry

got into the car using the skeleton key turned off the alarm and managed to start it all seems to be working ok
even managed to get the folding mirrors back into their normal driving position

each time I enter the car and press the start button it says " smart key not found" so have to use the emergency method of holding key against the steering column

the battery voltage is showing 12.6v with engine off and 14.8volts with engine running - so I don't think its a battery issue but of course it could be !

plugged in the iiD BT tool it does not show any faults at all Question I don't think the iid tool can re-programme the keys on the 2016MY

had already arranged for its first ever service on 15th Nov at the dealers I bought it from,
notified them of this fault they say they will investigate and hopefully rectify under warranty, with a bit of luck all on the same day, there maybe a charge for the investigation so fingers crossed
I will find out how good the well known JLR dealer whose name begins with 'S' in Aylesbury is Whistle

but in the meantime I don't think I'm unable to lock or alarm the car, but at least I can drive it

any one got any ideas ? various other LR's this one is still the best

There is a recall on this age of car to sort the smart key, how surprising your dealer failed to tell you this. letters not necessarily in the right order

just discovered I can lock it with the skeleton key , don't know why I didn't try that earlier must be an age thing Embarassed
as I can drive it its not too much of a hassle so I shan't bother with LR assistance, just hope its simple free fix various other LR's this one is still the best

The update is to replace the Key Validation Module so that it is now read-only so that anyone breaking into the car cannot then create a new key from the OBD port. That is why both keys are needed because they have to be matched to the KVM

quite impressed with their service Very Happy

however noticed on the way home when sat nav gives directions the radio does not mute Shocked not sure if its something I've adjusted
anyone got any ideas ? various other LR's this one is still the best

Not heard of that one.

The volume for the sat nav is set by adjusting the volume when the sat nav is talking - so may be worth trying a volume adjustment.....

think I shall try restoring default settings on sat nav to see if that sorts it

well that didn't work
have run out of ideas other than pulling the fuses and resetting the whole infotainment system ( do they still call it that ?) various other LR's this one is still the best

I've accidentally turned my Sat Nav volume down several times now - if you happen to alter your music volume as the Sat Nav says something, you end up turning that volume level down instead. Easiest way to get it back, assuming you have a destination set, is to go onto the Sat Nav map and touch the speaker looking icon at the top of the screen towards the right to make the Sat Nav repeat its last directions and as you do this, turn up the volume knob to the preferred level. If the voice ends and still isn't loud enough, just repeat it (I find it easier than guessing what level to set it at in the audio volume setup menu). Steve
