RRPhil is the chap to talk too, but I think that is the sort of issues that can be cured by a power flush of the gearbox.. Maybe specialist gearbox help is needed.. a normal garage is no good for these sorts of complaints Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

That era RR has the 6hp26 with the softer lead free stator bush. Ive read filings contaminate the tranny fluid and prematurely cause wear. Unless it's had a very early tranny service (say 30-40k miles) replacing the fluid will be a waste of money. ______________________________

As rar110 has stated, there was an issue on some 6HP26 models with wear in the rear stator bush which allows the E-clutch circuit to leak and lose pressure causing the clutch to slip. However the E-clutch is only used in 4th, 5th & 6th gears so that sounds unlikely to be the issue here.

The torque converter lock-up clutch does seem like a possibility so, in the first instance, I’d be tempted to replace the EDS 6 (yellow cap) solenoid, which controls the torque converter lock-up clutch operation, knowing how prevalent solenoid issues are with the 6HP26.

I took him up to neil smith this morn and he tested it and said torque converter was slipping very very slightly but not to worry as it was minimal until it got worse, and it wouldnt damage any other parts of the box, usually its the carbon build up he said but overall quoted him 1100+vat for a reman converter gaskets filters oil etc, but would you try the eds6 valve first stil? thanks _____________________________________________________
