Air suspension in active

Hi all, i drove home this evening and this message popped up 'Air suspension inactive' also i noticed the light on the dial in the cab is unlit, upon reaching home i got out and saw that the front has dropped but the rear is up, so my wagon looks like a cross between a dragster and a monster truck!! there is also a ticking and high pitched sort of whistling/tapping noise from under the engine which someone said could be alternator related, i have also washed my car earlier with a Karcher. just mentioning all these things due to reading a few threads and there seems to be some similarities. ive tried the lock to lock but nothing, hence im writing this. the Gap iiD tool seems to be a popular choice in figuring this out but i need to know first ifits gonna just be a case of spending a few pennies on parts to fix it or the diagnostic will sort it out first.

any help would be greatly appreciated

cheers

Definitely get the iid tool then you can diagnose your problem. The unlit control means it's in"hard fault! I've had another brand of fault reader and lost faith in it. Just got an iid tool and wish I had got that earlier tbh..

yeah im beginning to think this iiD tool is a good option, so if ive read correctly a hard fault can be rectified by disconnecting the battery for a long time say over night?

^^

Worth a try but unlikely....

You will need a diagnostic tool to find out "why" you have a hard fault, so that you can fix it (compressor/reservoir/height sensor/airbag/...)

Most garages will have a Snapon Solus / Autologic or similar which can help you, if you don't want to pay out for an IIDTool. .

It never worked for me but my compressor had lost the will exhale. Laughing for what it's worth when mine went into hard fault it did the dragster thing that yours has and I was convinced it was as a height sensor, valve or a bag at fault..only for way to find out is through diagnostic..it's a good investment if your keeping the fatty

I'm a little confused. You do appear to have a hard fault which requires clearing with the iiD tool or the like.

However, you mention that the light in the dial in the cab is out. If you mean in the control knob which is used to raise and lower the suspension, then the light should only be on when the suspension is locked which is achieved by pressing the centre button which also causes the light to come on to warn that the suspension is locked. John

there is no light on the actual control knob and also there is no light on the light panel next to it which usually indicate what height the vehicle is at.

OK so my iiD tool turned up this morning,(thank you Duckworths) got it all set up and initial scan had 51 faults! Big Cry however i cleared them and eventually it dropped to two (however i'm still not convinced those are the only ones) the Air suspension message cleared for a while...... then came back.....retried and it cleared, i managed to try and use the control in the cab to adjust it to see if it would work however the left front wing came up, the rear left wing is now somewhere in the clouds and the front right is rock bottom. the Air susp message comes back every now and then along with max offroad speed 30 mph, I' guessing that's due to the arse end being up so high.

Questions:
How do i go about getting all four corners at the same height? is this the calibration function?

the two errors that come up are
0x8A Air suspension system CAN error
0xBD EBV function fault received from ABS ECU

Also my pressure from compressor(reservoir) was 187 psi (dont know if this will make any difference)

Cheers
