Drivetrain hum/vibration? V8 2003

Hello All

I'm new to the forum, got a bit of an issue with my 2003 ffrr. When cruising along I get a hum/vibration coming from the drivetrain as far as I can tell, it goes away when you lift off throttle or accelerate harder and happens anywhere between 25 to 65 mph. I have done a lot of searching and most point to torque converter however, most posts say it goes away in sport or manual mode but mine will do it regardless, could it still be torque converter or should I be looking somewhere else? I have had it to a garage but they couldn't find anything wrong with it and said all looked in good condition. Any help would be appreciated , it's a V8 4.4 with BMW m62 engine

Thanks
Joe

Have a look at the centre support bearing in the middle of the split rear propshaft. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Does it get worse on particularly smooth roads at low speeds? also are you running original sized tyres/rims or larger and are they worn?
changed my rims from 20" to 19" today with correct sized new tyres had a droning noise like a wheel bearing was going, sounded worse when cornering ect, now its on the right tyres its quiet as a mouse!

TD6 is particularly bad for vibration noise when using grater than 19" on the older l322's may be the same with the V8's but haven't heard so much of a problem with them, just a thought, easier than changing wheel bearings or gearbox bits Thumbs Up

I'll have a look at the centre bearing thanks.

It's running on 19 inch rims with Pirelli tyres on but they have been on for a while with no problems, all at about 4mm tread now

Find yourself a nice slow uphill gradient and hold the throttle at a constant light throttle accelerating very gradually and if the vibration stops at around 60 mph or less and if the Rev counter is moving very slightly in time with the vibration then TC Is My bet, sounds a bit like the rumble strip at the side of the motorway

Had the car to a gearbox specialist, turned out to be a worn valve in gearbox and a faulty solenoid, drives great now
