Wanted: TDV8 or S/C up to around £10k

Hi all,
I've been trawling this site and similar for a few months now. My T5 Transporter left me this morning and I have an empty drive ready to fill with a FFRR. I've listened to he advice and read the excellent Wiki buying guide and decided I would like either:
1. TDV8 with facelift interior. Or
2. S/C pre tax hike. Or
3. S/C post tax hike and with facelift interior if it has lpg or is cheap enough to allow me to fit lpg in the future.
Basically I've promised OH that tax and fuel combined won't cost more than her Subaru WRX did (i.e. High tax plus 23mpg avg)

My preference is a silver or grey, but would consider any colour. I'm not worried too much about mileage up to about 125k. I could be persuaded to look at higher for the right car. Needs to have FSH, ideally with evidence of the major niggles already sorted and preferably low owners.

I'm looking in the usual places but would prefer to buy direct from someone who has loved their RR and who can tell me about their ownership.

I'm in the North Somerset area. Willing to travel for the right car.

Thanks for reading and if you know of something that may be of interest then please let me know.

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Zambezi Silver

hi there, as regular trawler of the classifieds i would say that forget about option 3 as you will need more money than £10k..... you should be able to get examples of your other two options and for less than £10 on the sc route but mileage like you say will be 100k plus...... there's a couple for sale on here...fozza has got a black pre interior facelift for less than £10k.... with your budget option 2 would be the route io would choose although you wont get better fuel than your scooby..... Wink

Thanks Andy,
I've been doing the classifieds trawling for a few months now. A nice looking S/C on a 57 plate with lpg and 125k sold recently for just under 10k and that would have been ideal!
I'm currently considering going to see a TDV8 with 92k at £11,500. It's a private sale with lots of documented history and in the right colour for me...
lots of choice out there, but not a lot in my area currently.

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Java Black

I have been looking for something similar and thankfully have found a wonderful one which I am collecting on Tuesday. I am like a 4 year old and probably annoying everyone.

If I were you I would insist on a S/C machine, although the oil burners offer a saving in fuel just one of the many potential issues that can go wrong could wipe out any saving on the fuel. Do your research and if one thing I have learnt more than ever buy on condition not mileage. 2005 E60 M5

Haha, I saw that one this morning and I put a low bid in as I can't get to see it today. I'm currently the high bidder but it's reserve not met.

Nice looking S/C in Yorkshire (miles away) with 124k on it. Will call him later. Lined up a TDV8 to see tomorrow too.

Grey one near Huddersfield? Nice looking car but appears to have a boot blind rather than a normal parcel ahelf. They are horrific to replace so make sure it's got it! 2005 E60 M5

England

I think the SC engines are more difficult to lpg properly than the older 4.4s. More power but there are lots of BMW engines successfully converted. Even with 400bhp it isn't going to be quick so I'd forego the power and get the more relaible conversion if you go lpg.

Thanks Andy, I'll speak to the chap later today and if you're local that would be excellent if it didn't put you out too much.
Cheers

Cheers David, lpg isn't my main objective to be honest. I've spoken to a local company who have a history of successful fits to the 4.2 S/C, but it's mega bucks and I'm by sure I would see the cost recovered with the miles I do.

I've seen a few now but am still looking. Having looked at a grey one my preference has changed to black followed by silver.

I would prefer the TDV8 but would consider a S/C but having rear driven one it's much more power then I would ever need or use.

Anyone out there considering selling?
