Won't turn over, ignition module fault, how to remove it ?

Alright mates, put in the key turn it, nothing happens, well actually the car thinks its switched on but the motor isn't running, no does it crank, the car thinks its on. Now I've narrowed it down to the iginition switch module, now my question is how to I get it out, RAVE hasn't been of much help and searching too

I've reached this far

Now there is a screw which needs to be opened from the inside and but can't get to it unless the ignition barrel and module is removed, this is the where the screw is on the opposite side where the lighter is on a LHD

I know many have done this and say its not to complicated but I'm stuck at this one blasted screw, any tricks and tips on how to get to the screw and/or remove the module. Thanks in advance

A screw bit in a quarter inch ratchet. Gives you a right angle access. John

No you can't do that on the side where the key goes in, there ignition barrel right up against the screw head you can even barely see it.

The ignition module seems to be a common problem, and many people seem to have replaced it easily, I just don't get it. What am I doing wrong here ?

Anybody got detailed instructions on this ?

Yes , sorry I was looking at the wrong side. I did mine last month and it was straightforward. You don't need to take out as much as at first appears.

I agree that RAVE isn't particularly clear.

From what I can see, if you look under the lip of the moulding forward of the switch, there is a screw either side which is rather hidden. If not already done so, you need to take them out then you can lift the surround of the switch enough to get it it out of the seating. From the photo, it appears you have already removed the two screws holding the switch itself in place.

When it comes out you can then unscrew the rod which leads to it and that lets you remove the whole switch to replace the relevant part (the underside bit).

Hope I have that clear. John

Thanks, I will have another poke around tomorrow again to see if I can locate that forward screw under the lip you mention and see if I can wiggle out the ignition barrel from under neat.

And yes I've already undone the two screws holding in the ignition.

There are two screws to come out, one on either side.

Good luck. John

Sorry I'm not clear what you mean. The points of the screws point forward towards the front of the car, for want of a better description. John
