I found a unit with flush/straight sides. Im talking to Eonon to confirm that this will work with the L322. I like the green illumination, all it will need is the Rover splash screen logo. My goal would also be to hook up an economical aftermarket amp setup to get the best possible sound.

That's an Erisin unit and the sides are curved Wink

I've made an interesting discovery, I'm stripping the interior of the car so that I can fit my new radio, and I have discovered that the Subwoofer was not plugged in.... not sure if there was a fault, factory cock up or a previous owner had it unplugged Rolling Eyes But I was sure that it was all working, due to the sound quality, so I'm now beginning to wonder if the sub is needed Rolling Eyes

Well I can't see why it wont fit, it's definitely got all the right kit and as you say is a better fit that the X5 unit. I'm not sure that I'd bother with an amplifier.... maybe buy a couple of long Phono extension leads and run them to the back from the Aux out and Sub out, just incase you don't like the sound... at least that way you don't have to have the whole car apart again to add an amp Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... I've been saying this since the beginning but nobody believes it, mine runs without a subwoofer, and without the center speaker at the front as I have the CB running through, I just have the door speakers wired in to the head unit, no extra amp or cross overs etc and it sounds fine.... It is totally acceptable for 90% of people, if you are one of the fortunate 10% who can notice a drop in quality then maybe an amp and other bits may help but what's the point of spending more money until you try it, it costs no more and isn't even much work to try it as it and see, or hear if you think it's OK... Thumbs Up Pete

Pete,

The range rover splash screen logo file on the sd card should work on any of these android units correct?

I would imagine so, you have to get into the factory settings (126 is a popular number) to change it though...

I use this one...

Norway 2004 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Bonatti Grey

Hi.

First of all thanks Haylands for this brilliant thread. I have read all the comments and the useful information.

Also I see that new versions ar coming more or less all the time, and that it might be possible to fit even a bigger screen. (9") made for the X5.

However, this is not why I am writing.
In Norway where I live they have started to shut down the FM-net.. So drivers without DAB+ in northern Norway have now got plenty of possibility to practice their singing..

Anyhow, I have a perfectly functioning system with satnav, DSP, integrated telephone and FBH, all controlled through the head unit. Thus I need to move the head unit into the glove box to reating the FBH operation.
My question however is this. The new bluetooth capable headunit is perfect for seamless usage in combination with my mobile phone. But as the existing system already a really good integrated microphone, have anyone tried to take the existing integrated RR microphone for the factory fitted telephone and connect it to the new Android head unit?

If so: how do you connect it and was the sound quality just as good as with the old unit?

Thanks guys.

PS: I see there are two active threads on the same theme. Thats why I also post here..

Ottar

You should use a microphone with the correct impedance for the unit, whether they are the same or not I don't know and I doubt you will find that sort of info out....

However I used a Parrot, double noise cancelling mic with the Android unit and it worked fine so maybe it doesn't make much difference...!!!

Try it and see Thumbs Up Pete

Thanks for the advice.
I am not sure what an electronic version of a parrot is, but I guess a quick google search will reveal the secret.

Will do the swap this summer Smile

United States 2006 Range Rover HSE 4.4 V8 Lucerne Green

I Understand that these units don't work with the MOST system. What i need to know if I can use the harness and head unit to connect the power and Steering wheel controls ONLY? I have a 06 RR HSE. I will be replacing the speakers and amps and getting rid of the MOST pieces. I don't understand the electrical guide as i can't tell what year and system the diagrams are for. Am i assuming right that the 06 RR has the 40 pin connector? I am trying to do as little cutting of wires as possible.

You will lose all the features that are displayed on the headunit currently fitted, it will not be plug and play but it is easy enough to chop the leads off the plug and sort them out to a new amp and speakers. The new unit does have an internal amp which is OK for general listening... Pete

Sorting out the amps and speakers is easy. I want to make sure that the power and steering wheel controls will work everything else i don't really need. My 06 RR seems to be a one off year and the info on it is little to none. How do i know What year and unit they are talking about in the rave?
