Front Cool Box

Any ideas what should be expected?
Put bottle of water in mine and after about 5 hours driving with unit switched on, it was hotter than when it went in.
Is this a fridge or is it just a cool box that needs ice pack in it?

Yes, green light is on but only works when ignition is on.
Looks like back to dealer to sort?

In the handbook it says not to leave switched on as it can drain the battery.

This implies that it should work with ignition turned off?

It's not a fridge in the true sense, it's a thermally insulated box with an attached heat sink and fan which is activated by the switch in the centre console. It's really a cool box, if the item goes in cold then it will maintain that coldness over a journey but it will not make things cold.

Always keep a/c on.

The box managed to heat up the contents, the sides being quite hot.

Would have thought there should be some element of coldness, certainly not heat?

I think I may have an idea for LR......instead of something that cools and is of use on the odd hot day, why not have my system that can heat up your drink for the other 360 days of the year Rolling with laughter

It uses a Peltier cooling device, so should cool the compartment down. If it is heating up, it is not out of the question that the power supply has been reversed! Shocked

Sounds like it's wired the wrong way. It uses a Peltier unit, much the same as heated/cooled seats do. Connect it up and it should get cold, but if the +ve and -ve are the wrong way it will heat up instead.
