Whistle Oh dear, looks like the number one Chelsea Tractor isn't fit for purpose.. Maybe he should trade it in for a Gee Whiz.. Seeing as he's an Indian Diplomat.. shouldn't he be supporting an indian manufacturer??

This DPF regen problem isn't just Range Rover... I have it on very good authority that the Post Office is having terrible trouble with their Fiat Doblo vans.. it would look as if the DPF is an issue for anything that only potters about doing short trips. Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Miggit, JLR is owned by an Indian manufacturer. Mr. Green

The owner obviously isn't too good at taking advice on a simple fix, but I AM impressed with a foreign diplomat in London who DOES pay the congestion charge. Many do not.

I wonder if this is a good example of the subtlety and tact with which this "diplomat" carries out all of his negotiations? If so, he's in the wrong job!

It seems like a fair example of someone, with no mechanical understanding at all, having an expensive car wasted on them and then him blaming it on the manufacturer for not making it moron proof.

Thing is, we are enthusiasts, we get what a DPF brings to the table, however I would guess 90% of buyers do not and with many brands not even offering many of their models in anything but diesel guise it is no wonder buyers get Censored off when this sort of thing happens.

My old man has a BMW X3, he only does 10k miles a year now and all sub 10 mile journeys, but BMW don't even offer that car in anything other than diesel in the UK. He would have preferred petrol.
When he bought his Merc ML before that, the facelift was only available in the UK in diesel variants or the 6.2 litre V8 AMG, so he bought the diesel.

I bought a Merc E350cdi Estate because they dropped the petrol model, didn't like it and to get the 3.5 V6 petrol had to buy a used pre facelift model as they had dropped the petrol from the UK market. Now considering the guy said 90% of sales were PCP or Contract hire with owners doing less than 12k miles a year it does make you wonder why this is happening?
Surely the sales guys should be sitting down with customers and properly explaining the overall financial difference between a new petrol and diesel car is pretty much sweet F.A?! Porsche 911 (996)
