Ski rack and sports bar

just FYI when you put skis in a thule ski rack attached to sports bars on an l322 the bindings touch the roof. Now this isn't much of a problem if you are only putting one or two pairs in the rack as you can just split the skis and put them in individually (took me a while to realise this) but if you are expecting to get 4 pairs in a rack then be aware the bindings will press down on the sunroof, not so good.

the newer racks have spacers included, guess mine is missing these as it was second hand. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I luckily just had enough room on mine. I bought the Thule Wingbars and the clamps which grip into the door recess, with a Thule 742 ski rack - which fits 4 snowboards (2 on 2). With no spacers (non were provided in my new kit either) I had enough room that the bindings were clear of the roof. Benefit of having no sportsbars fitted I guess! Looking at it it would clear with the Thule bars as they have more clearance, I could fabricate some spacers for it but I reckon it will be noisy as hell if I do, so will just put the skis in individually. Fortunately I'm only taking one pair.

TBH they could go inside but the kids will whine! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Might as well start training the kids - no roof bars for an L405 unless you have the permanent rails fitted.

I used to have Thule bars and it was close with the bindings but they just squeezed in.
