How much is an ff really worth?

Does anybody know at what point the value of an ff as a complete vehicle becomes less than the value of its parts for a breaker? QUID FACIUM TIBI

It's about the joy of driving it. I occasionally think about a new one, but the new equivalent of my AB is £106k. I run my five year old one knowing that nothing that I can buy for its current value will match the driving experience. That's why I will pay £1k for a service and £500 for brakes... it's looking after my investment in the "experience". You will never make money out of a FFRR and all cars depreciate, you just need to decide how much and how quickly you are prepared to lose it. 2005 L322 Vogue Gold gone

The simple rule of thumb to breaking is how much are the engine and gearbox worth?
Use that as your breaker guide as to be honest most of the rest of the bits of the car are either not going to sell or are very fiddly to remove and slow to sell.

Very true with the L322 and L405. It seems with the Classic that it's a few bits of trim that can be the hardest to source, (but very fiddly to remove as mentioned).

I've just bought my range rover back from the insurance company for £1100, with a pre-accident valuation of £6400. That's a late 54 reg, with 127k miles and LPG. Big Cry 2005 L322 Tonga Green 4.4l BMW Engine with Touchscreen

yessir 2500 USD. Sort of Censored me off, I was offered 8k less than a year before but the value dropped very fast. So assuming on the low end $5k for parts the offer was well below that. OffRoadRover.com An American Western Range Rover Off Road Blog

Oh I don't know - my Defender's recently had an agreed insurance value of the same that I bought it for 9 years ago... Doors are getting rotten, tripled the mileage on it and plenty of 'love scratches' from laning trips. But then they are reaching silly prices these days. Ed

Very true, many on this side of the "pond" pay 75k-150k for really nice restored examples of 1997 defenders. OffRoadRover.com An American Western Range Rover Off Road Blog
