Any plumbers?

I want to put a tap in my internal garage. The en suite is directly above the garage and I was wondering if I could take a feed off of the cold water tap which runs under the floorboards.

I did think about the downstairs toilet as it backs onto the garage. I thought the fall from upstairs might assist with pressure though.

I did pretty much the same thing Thumbs Up

It would depend whether the taps are fed from the tank or have incoming mains pressure - I thought that they were usually mains pressure.

It doesn't matter, the fall won't make a difference as the outlet tap you are fitting is where it is regardless so it's the fall from the header to there. If the downstairs wc is easiest then do that. Do you actually have a header tank for cold water in the loft, if not then all you cold water feeds will be mains pressure in any case so it will be irrelevant.

You should fit a check valve between the feed and the tap so as to prevent any back contamination from hoses etc fitted to the tap👍🏻 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Yes, there is a header tank in the loft. I could take a feed off that I suppose?

Just take a feed from the most convenient place.

As NMJ says, if its tank fed, then its vertical drop that matters, the pipe routing has little effect.

People watching so much porn on the internet is giving them an unhealthy and unrealistic expectation of how quickly they can get a plumber. letters not necessarily in the right order

if you have a header then all your cold taps will be gravity fed apart from the kitchen tap probably. So just take the feed from the WC if that is the easiest. Thumbs Up

16mm drill through the wall and an outside tap kit from the plumbers merchant. You can get them as a pipe with a backplate flange on the end so you just have to drill it thorough the wall fit the tap with the supplied PTFE tape, vertical it up first, only then screw it to the wall otherwise the tap will end up Censored at an angle, then just pipe up the end in the WC. Comes as a kit with all the fittings you are likely to need in compression. If you have city plumbing near to you then they should stock them. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I put a tap in my garage and also a couple in the garden. I made sure there was a valve to turn it all off and that it can be drained completely, otherwise you may get frozen pipes.
