Happy 15th Birthday!

Yep, registered April 30th 2002, and "Big Bob" still going strong.

Thought you might like a list of work done and some data from the last 8 1/2 years of "happy" ownership:

L322 TD6 HSE (more or less fully loaded to Vogue spec, apart from seats and sunroof) (I'll put the build sheet up when I get the chance)

Mileage at purchase 87,000
175,000 miles on clock
15 years old

Dashcam
New windscreen, really could do with another!
Removed Viscous Fan and Cowl Upgrade Wink
FFRR badging (and fullfat sticker)
New LR height sensor
Repaired LF height sensor (DIY)

Only times it went into LR garage was for the gearbox and the gear lever selector / rear wiper
All other work DIY

What doesn't work:

Folding Mirrors ( they fold but then fold back out )
FBH ( just not bothered, heated seats do it for me )
Low Range ( well it will go in, but won't come back out )
Going to need some bodywork attention soon for LR quarter panel, tailgate, inside rear doors wheelarches

Likely to stay with us until it dies, or GOV.UK ban diesels! .

Mines an 02 Alveston red too - although yours is probably in far better condition. I'm working through a list of jobs that the car came with - mostly unknown on purchase 🙄

Mines currently needing a new alternator and I've found the worst mobile mechanic to do it - been a week now and still not done as he ordered the wrong part (not a water cooled one which even I as a non mechanical person knew that's what it needed) Really must get handy with the spanners lol

@stan

Problem is, you get to the point where you know exactly where you are and what has been done, and knowing that it would all have to be done again with a newer one kind of puts you off!

I have not upgraded twice now due to the fact that "nothing needed doing" = "all needs to be done" Very Happy

Really have to decide on spending proper money getting all the rusty bits sorted, or just live with it until car dies...doesn't owe me anything and selling value is now rock bottom. .

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Bournville

Interested that you don't seem to have done anything with injectors in all those miles. My TD6 was great until about 160k miles, when it started all sorts of problem - worst was hot start issues, which turned out to be leaking injectors, but only when hot. Have you done anything like preventative maintenance, or perhaps blind luck?

I kept mine 9 years and that made it very cost effective. Looked at a variety of other cars to replace it, but nothing in my price range was as much fun or as practical. Now have a 2010 3.6 TDV8 and that engine makes me smile every day. Current: 2010 Range Rover L322

Now gone: 2002 Range Rover L322

@ steveball

2 new injectors are in the list!

Did a write up on here somewhere including DIY leak test kit.

No doubt a couple more need doing, I can sense the "chachacha" of the starter motor on startup is getting longer again Smile

@stan

you need some cream for that Laughing

Happy birthday 'Big Bob'.

Mine's 15 later this year. I call him 'Lurch', only when going round a corner though.

Had mine 7 years. Will probably keep it until it's due to be scrapped in a year or so as it's not worth much.

Not sure what to replace it with. I only got it so I could tow a big trailer for my house renovations. I don't need it anymore but am reluctant to go back to a 'normal' car, but then a newer car that's 'maintenance free' does sound apealing.
