2003 L322 Radio Pixel Fix or Fit Sat Nav

Hi I've recently joined and have posted on another matter, my car came with the Radio/CD head unit fitted. It has the usual pixel problem and came with a repair ribbon from AK Speedo. I've watched a few video's on this and as the dash panel has to be removed I thought about replacing it with the sat nav from the same period. I picked up a secondhand head unit and after watching a video on how to remove the radio I decided to have a go. Everything went ok until I got to removing the radio in particular the inaccessible t20 screws. I got these out and removed the Radio/CD head unit. When it came to comparing the connections on the back of the respective head units they are different, not only that but the sat nav won't fit the plastic housing that the Radio/CD sits within, without surgery to said housing. I also don't have the GPS unit as yet but was hoping to use as a radio in the interim. I would loose my CD player but maybe this can be sorted out later. My car is a HSE and I think the Sat Nav was an expensive optional. Any advice would be appreciated
