Transmission oil change, what's needed?

Right gents, after trying a few garages for maintenance it looks like I'm back to doing it myself. Had the EGR stat done at one and had to go back because of coolant leak, just had the engine stat changed at another on Friday, and guess what .......... massive coolant leak Mad It's going back tomorrow.

I'm fortunate in that I have a four post ramp so that should make it easier, but, what exactly do I need to do a proper job?
Doubt if I shall flush it, just oil and filter, so apart from the genuine Texaco oil what else do I need to get and where from?

Cheers men Thumbs Up

Yep, read that. He used a Bilstein filter kit but I've read others stick to OE (Can't remember the make). Does it all come as a kit, do I have to locate everything separately? Where from?
From what I've read then all I need is,

Texaco oil x 7ltr
oil pan gasket
Filter

Yep ??

Mind a copper washer for sump plug, some degreaser to clean the sump/ magnets when it's down. Also found having a used blunt razor blade helped remove any old gasket from the mating face .

"OE (Can't remember the make)."

Filtran. The filter normally comes with a gasket and new bolts.

Buy my Texaco from here: http://www.fleetfactors.co.uk/lubricants-c...7045e-p387

Best price I have found. It is worth buying the 20 litre drum for future use. A further fluid change after about 500 miles is recommended as you won't get all the fluid out in one go. Also if you just buy seven litres you might come up a bit short.

I wouldn't go for a ready assembled kit as they tend to include Dexron which is fine generally but not for the TD6. Stick with the Texaco. John

Waiting for a price on Texaco from Waltons as they have a depot relatively close. Is the filter, bolts, gasket a dealer part or independent?

Sorry Rod, just realised who I was speaking to. Duckworths could probably supply. Think Dan is away at the moment but there will be someone there to advise.

Will chase the other business tomorrow and update you. Thumbs Up John

Thanks Thumbs Up

Baffled now though, my motor is registered 2003, build sheet says model year 2004. gearbox says Automatic 5 speed with steptronic [078BN]

So what gearbox is it exactly, there seems to be filters advertised for several relating to TD6 ??

Would this question be worth a separate thread?
