Just to clarify....

You do not need to book for a high vehicle in your L405 for the tunnel. Put vehicle in locked low mode and it will fit under all the low barriers and get onto the train without any height problem. I do this trip every two weeks without issue. Flex ticket is convenient especially at peak times. You get preferential lanes and first on to the train as well as flexi lounge with free drinks and gifts.

You will not need a tag if driving direct from the tunnel to Antwerp.

Agreed avoid Antwerp rush hour PITA.

Roads are generaly great. Keep an eye on your speed as there are a few (not many) speed cameras. There are two after you leave the tunnel in France, heading towards Antwerp (90kph section)

Cheers Willy, I didn't realise an L405 would fit under the barrier - I thought it was the same height as an L322.

To the note on speed cameras, I'd add - do stick to posted speed limits on the Autobahn. It's not unrestricted everywhere so you need to watch out - there are usually (always?) limits around exits. And don't run out of fuel or tailgate on the Autobahn either - you'll get fined if they catch you!

The area where we go also bans washing cars on Sundays, not sure if that's a Germany-wide thing though! Just in case you were tempted.

Is the sticker from France valid throughout Europe, or do you need a different one in Germany?, and which other countries have now adapted them? E.g. Spain ? Portugal?

And make sure that you keep a close look to your rear view mirror in Germany before overtaking another car. They can arrive very fast...

Agreed the wheels were a concern as the carriages are tight. However my 22" wheels have been through about 20 times and not had a problem..........yet  Previous

So i am at my destination. Very surprised how easy it all was. Antwerp was busy and delayed us an hour. Then a smash on autobahn whic cost 30 mins.
Was excellent trip and blew the dust of but had to slow down as sunroof decided to wistle to the music!

Great drive back to. One accident where a merc vanio hit the central concrete barrier taking both the wheels off that side.
Looking forward to.many more trips abroad!
You dont see many range rovers in belgium, holland and germany, wonder why?
