HELP PLEASE!! AC not working

Hello All,
Firstly, let me introduce myself since I am new here.
I am Nick. I live in Luxembourg. I was sent here from the D2BC forum because I have just bought a 2003 TD6 with 280000Km in Monte Carlo Blue.

I need your help!!

The Car Seller that I bought from managed to fry all the electrics by attaching a 24V battery to the FF. They have replaced the ECUs, but the AC doesn't seem to work.

The fan and climate system seem to work, it seems to be measuring the inside temperature correctly, and adjusting the blowers, but it doesn't blow any cold air.

Can anyone give me any advice on what I can look for, and how/if it is possible to sort out without costing a fortune.

Thanks in advance.

Nick

First check that there is a drive belt fitted, 2nd check the fuse, 3rd does it need a re-gas?

Thanks for those replies! I will take a look later for the belt and the fuse but I am pretty sure that the belt is there since the AC apparently worked before the ECUs were fried.

Is there any way to test the climate system is working correctly?

Hello again, Nick. Welcome aboard.

As said above, the best way is to have a system test and regas before trying anything else. John

Does the compressor engage in the engine bay? if it does then maybe the blend motors are not working and blocking off the cold air?

This morning, i think that it was cooling a bit. I will get the system regassed on Monday and see if it is working.

I had issues with my A/C and I managed to sort it out myself... It was rather frowned upon on here, but, it was repaired by me with not much fuss, for the coast of a recharge.. only it was still working 12 months later, where as a recharge wouldn't do more than a few months.

Here's the thread http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic33288.html?highlight=air+con

If nothing else it has proved handy having the gauge to check the system pressure, on more that one car Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Thanks for that. I will keep it in mind. It did the same thing about 5 years ago on a Volvo, but I had forgotten about that.

The AC is being regassed on Monday. We will see if there is a leak at least, and then see where to go.
