Reduced Engine Performance...again...

Morning all. Just wondered if anyone had any ideas about why I might be getting an intermittent ‘Reduced Engine Performance’ issue with the old girl. I’ve just had a pretty hefty 100k service, and in addition the guys applied various software updates. Most of the time we enjoy trouble free motoring. However, occasionally we get the fateful ‘bing’ and ‘Reduced Engine Performance’ kicks in and we’re desperately searching for somewhere to stop and switch off for a few minutes. Restarting seems to clear the ‘fault’.

The issue seems to occur if we’ve been, let’s say ‘driving enthusiastically’, but it’s not every time. I hate to say it but it seems to be getting more frequent. Any thoughts gratefully accepted.

Cheers Life is what happens while youre making other plans.

Check the aux coolant pump is wired the correct way round (loads of posts online about the LR Technical Service Bulletin) - Many of them were wired incorrectly at build Rolling Eyes

You may be lucky and the aux coolant pump doesn't mind spinning in the other direction! It's unlikely though, a new aux coolant pump is not hugely expensive and easy to fit. Thumbs Up 2006 4.2 SC

As above. Thumbs Up

Happened to mine shortly after purchase and, fortunately, fixed under warranty. Si. <This is my name.

Yup, supercharger pump vastly likely. If you have an IID tool you can confirm almost immediately.

Have you switched the wires only or switched the wires and replaced the coolant pump? 2006 4.2 SC

Swapped pump for a new one. So far so good. Life is what happens while youre making other plans.
