Any info on changing a TDV8 3.6L Power steering pump?

Has anyone changed or seen any info on changing the Power Steering Pump in an L322 TDV8 3.6?

The workshop manual I have for some reason only appears to cover the 4.2L supercharged and all the references I can find seem to to have been dealer changed.
I assume it's done from underneath and would hate to think its as bad as changing the alternator? Please tell me it's simple!!!

Thanks Rehab is for quitters!!!

Done from above. Bit awkward and fiddly, as everything is on these cars Laughing

Airbox out, Fan off, belt off, hose clip off and HP union undone, 2 bolts at the front, 1 at the back

Thumbs Up

Thanks Mikey. So no need to go underneath at all? How long did it take you? I've got the fan and belt off already. Rehab is for quitters!!!

It took somewhere between 2-3 hours, but that was my first one

Thanks again. This one drove in and when the owner went to leave there was a puddle underneath and steering was groaning. The reservoir was low and the oil looked blackish. With the belt off the pump has a little movement not the pulley and sometimes clicks when turned by hand. I can't actually see the leak so am guessing it's the pump. Does this sound about right? Btw it appears the oil is only available from LR although I see Island 4X 4 have an alternative at £11/litre rather than £19/litre. Anyone any experience or thoughts on the oil?

Thanks Rehab is for quitters!!!

The leak is more likely to be at the rack end on driver side. ______________________________
