New car sold to another customer - what would you do!

Ordered a RR Vogue AB 4.4 in April for delivery this week, order paperwork signed etc. etc (LR main dealer) to be told that the car has been sold in error to another customer and was delivered last week!

How would you deal with this (will post what I have asked for when there are a few replies).

Beggar's belief to be honest Evil or Very Mad That really would have me blowing a fuse, I mean it's a straightforward process to take an order and see it through the 'system' isn't it.
Makes me feel angry just posting this, I would be spitting feather's if I were you but then they still wouldn't do much and probably thinking another punter will walk through the door like they have been in their droves for months.

Thanks -it is unbelievable. The supplying dealer didn't actually sell my car, they were swapping with another dealer and when they contacted them to execute the swap they were told the car has been delivered to a customer!

I am very annoyed but confident in my legal and moral position just interested what others might ask for to resolve the situation.

Hello,

well, the car is gone, this is it. Now seat back, relax, this is not the end of the world, so let's make the best of it and turn your bad luck into good luck.

the 2018 facelift model is coming out very soon with a potential Velarish look for the front end.

Simply ask the dealer to order a new 405, 2018 spec with all the specs you want, at the same price (if there is a any extra cost, their loss).

In the meantime, require a loan 405 from them.

If they say no, spend your cash elsewhere (I mean another LR dealership, not in a German company one!) after contacting JLR Customer Service to address the issue and ask just what I have mentioned above.

See it's not that bad after all Wink

Thanks for the advice - I am quite relaxed now I have a plan in my own mind part of which is a MY18 car as you suggest.

OK, that's a slightly more understandable mistake and probably a genuine communication error between two dealers. If it had been a sole dealer mistake then 'feather spitting' would be in order Whistle
As 'verydisco' states, it's a good opportunity to get something back from them in the form of a positive but don't hold your breath.
MY18 will be a good vehicle to aim for, although for a deal I'd imagine MY17 cars will be highly discounted in the latter part of this year, there will certainly be some bargains around me thinks. I managed to get shed loads off a MY16.5 car in December last year so it does happen.

Good evening.

Yes, the Dealer Principle stepped up to the plate and provided an equivalent loan car to the car I ordered until such time as the factory order to replace the sold car is delivered in September and a deal on a MY18 car early next year. I am pleased they did the right thing.

Righto, well I do like to see justice done, so please do tell when this fine dealership does indeed offer up something as due compensation for their f*** up! I am keen to see if they equate the value as though they were the customer and then with icing on top.
